FEMA Grant for Wildland Firefighting Equipment Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Josh Waldo, Fire Chief Dennis Taylor, Interim City Manager SUBJECT: Authorize City Manager’s to accept a FEMA Assistance to Firefighter’s grant for the Bozeman Fire Department MEETING DATE: September 25, 2017 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Authorize City Manager’s to accept grant award. BACKGROUND: In November of last year the Fire Department applied for a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant for wildland firefighting personal protective equipment after obtaining approval from the City Manager per administrative order 2014-01. On Friday September 8, 2017 the Fire Department was notified that their grant request was being awarded. In accordance with administrative order 2014-01 the City Commission must authorize the City Manager to accept this grant as it exceeds $20,000. The grant award is for $58,680, of which $5,334 is the City’s matching portion. The matching funds will come from the Fire Department’s FY-18 budget and does not require a budget amendment. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission FISCAL EFFECTS: None at this time, all matching funds will come from the fire department’s FY-18 budget allocation.
