I live in the Valley West subdivision, and with the boom in new construction, it has become routine for the entire neighborhood to be filled with noxious smoke. It is not a pleasant campfire-like smoke of burning lumber scraps. It is a toxic-smelling smoke of burning garbage. It is, in my opinion, not just unpleasant but at times so strong it presents a hazard, particularly to young children in the neighborhood park. The Fire Marshal's guidance for recreational fires states: “Do not burn anything other than a good dry wood. Any recreational fire that will be offensive or objectionable due to smoke or odor emissions is prohibited.” Why is this true for small recreational fires, but not large commercial fires burning within or directly next to our neighborhoods? There was a time when these burns would've taken place once or twice per building season and could be more easily tolerated. With so many houses going up, it has become a near weekly situation. Please consider ending this unpleasant and potentially hazardous situation. Thank you for your time and consideration, and your ongoing service to our city. Eric Dobson
