2. 06:13:42 PM (00:10:07) Discussion of upcoming HPAB retreat
Group discussed the postponement of the HPAB retreat and discussed filling the two open seats
on the board, including how best to promote those seats.

1. 06:21:13 PM (00:17:38) State Historic Preservation Office county playing cards
2. 06:22:39 PM (00:19:04) Demolitions update:
401 S. Willson - determined historically significant; 2 year stay placed, but has since been
demolished
430 S. Tracy Avenue - demolished after a 2 year stay
725 S. 6th Avenue - reviewed by board last fall - structure deemed unsalvageable
3. 06:26:56 PM (00:23:21) Ordinance 1920 demolition of historic structures update (takes
effect March 15, 2017)
Ordinance established a basic standard for maintenance of buildings throughout community in
addition to creating a new definition for historic significance. The City Commission also changed
the review process for removing buildings within the conservation district.
4. 06:37:02 PM (00:33:27) Historic Preservation Specialist hiring update
Interviews will begin within the next few weeks to choose an applicant out of a pool of eleven
qualified applicants.
5. 06:39:33 PM (00:35:58) Update on Unified Development Code revisions
Comments have been sent back to the consultant for edits and to be put together into one
document. Staff will review at the end of March to send additional edits to consultant so that
final Staff Draft can be created and presented to Commission.
06:41:58 PM (00:38:23) Preservation Advocacy Group offered to facilitate review of updated
UDC to offer input.

7. 06:47:50 PM (00:44:15) Sobo Development Application and discussion on buildings to
be demolished, including Pizza Hut and an adjacent non-historically contributing
building.
8. 06:48:48 PM (00:45:13) UDC Workshops and request for participation from other
groups
9. 06:49:35 PM (00:46:00) Requested discussion on 4B guidelines and how/where they
came about.
10. 06:56:13 PM (00:52:38) May is preservation month. Group discussed how HPAB can get
involved.
