Taylor, Interim City Manager Bethany Jorgenson, Human Resources Director SUBJECT: Work Session to Determine the List of Finalists for City Manager MEETING DATE: September 7, 2017 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Executive Session RECOMMENDATION: Determine the privacy interests of semifinalist candidates for the vacant City Manager position outweigh the public’s right to know regarding their candidacy. If so, we recommend closing the meeting to review these semifinalist candidates and to select finalists for next steps. BACKGROUND: The City Commission has selected a group of semifinalist candidates for the position of City Manager. During the September 7, 2017 meeting, Ron Holifield, CEO of Strategic Government Resources (SGR), will assist the City Commission in narrowing the group of semifinalists to a group of finalists for City Manager. Through the initial review process these candidates have expressed a privacy interest in their candidacy at this stage of the process. The candidates understand that should they be selected as finalists the public will be informed of their candidacy. Once finalists are selected, they will be invited to participate in interviews in late September. If a candidate accepts the invitation to participate as a finalist their name will be released to the public. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
