Fitzgerald, Montana Community Development Corp - Community Food Co-op Application BOZE MAN MT City Commission August 11, 2017 Ms. Sarah Fitzgerald Montana Community Development Corp 222 E. Main Street, Ste 202 Bozeman MT 59715 Dear Ms. Fitzgerald: This letter is written in support of the Community Food Co-op's application for New Markets Tax Credit financing. As the Mayor of Bozeman, I have been a strong advocate for local businesses. Our region has greatly benefitted from the Co-op's longstanding presence in our community, providing not only a source of healthy food but an abundance of healthy food that is locally grown and produced. The Community Food Co-op has been a job creator since 1979 and thanks to great leadership, the Co-op has been a highly successful centerpiece to our regional economy. I strongly believe the Co-op will put this financing opportunity to good use. The expansion plans will greatly help the organization consolidate day-to-day business operations, helping ensure greater cost-efficiencies in the production of local food. While a benefit to Co-op members and shoppers, this expansion benefits Bozeman in strengthening our downtown core with food and grocery conveniences. It also benefits employees by providing a safer and more efficient workplace. In this day of corporate dominance, it is refreshing to see a member-owned organization become one of Montana's best grocery stores. How lucky we are in Bozeman to have not one but two Community Food Co-op stores to grab breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sincerely, Mayor Carson Taylor ® 121 North •1 ® P.O.
