Site Visitor Name: Tamara Meyer Site Visitor Email: tamarajoymeyer@outlook.com Dear Chris, Thanks for the nice discussion on the phone today regarding the pool. This is what I wrote all of the city commissioners today. I learned today that our wonderful and unique 50-meter pool is now divided by a bulkhead. When and how was this decision made? I have been a yearly pass holder for the rec center pool for nearly 15 years and was not aware of this decision. As far as I can ascertain by talking with Elizabeth Hill, this was decided and pushed through by the swim teams and their $60,000 donation with no option for input by the rest of us who use the pool regularly. This is not how you run a public facility! If the swim team wanted a 25-yard pool they should built it themselves, but not take over our public pool without input from the rest who use the pool regularly. Here is what I would like to request of the city commissioners; • Vacate the decision and remove the bulkhead • Hold a public meeting asking for public comments on the proposal and solicit options • Invite all stakeholders to the public meeting– city residents, Bozeman Swim Center Members, Barracuda swim team, Master swim team, etc. to the meeting, thru posted swim center notices, public notices, ads in the local paper, and communications to the swim center members via email. • Talk about options and reach an agreement on the path forward. What I want is my voice and others to be heard. I would suggest a more limited number of months for the semi- permanent bulkhead to be in place. Maybe they only use it for swim meets? How about the one or two weeks before a swim meet? There are many options. I would just like all users to be given the opportunity to voice their support for keeping this incredible facility at 50 meters as much as possible. It seems like the pool manager Elizabeth Hill did not solicit input from anyone outside of swim team members. Again, this is not how you manage a public facility! Sincerely, Tamara Meyer
