Subject:Removable Bulkhead at the Bozeman Swim Center

Dear Commissioners,
I am writing with regard to the decision to put in the Removable Bulkhead at the BozemanSwim Center.
I feel this decision was done without any input from the existing users. Nothing was ever
posted at the swim center regarding the decision, nor was anything posted on the list-serve – aservice designed to notify users of updates - until this week, well after a decision had been
made. When asked, your director, Elizabeth, indicated to me that it was not her job to informthe facility users about modifications.
We have a great facility – one that I have been using for decades. The 50-meter pool benefitsso many who love water activities, including but not limited to lap swimmers, masterswimmers, open boaters, water aerobic classes, high school swim classes, families, and swimteam members – all of whom have a right to equal use.
The city - that you have been elected to represent - claims values of openness andtransparency. When you accepted money from a private special interest organization (SwimClub) to modify the facility, you did so without any comment from the majority of thosepreviously listed in this letter; and that, Commissioners, is distinctly opposite of our values.
The decision benefits one group, plain and simple.
I ask that you stop this from happening until more is heard from the public and those who usethe pool most often. The pool should be a facility for everyone, and exist to benefit the wholecommunity.
Respectfully,
Eileen Carpenter
