The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in reglllar session, in the Commis~ion Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, September 25th, 1942, 8t 7:30 o'clock p.n./f. Those
being present were Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commis~doner Lancloe; CIty
Attorney Aitken, City Mansiler t::),uinnell, City Eng:i.neer Thorpe, Director of Finance 'Nalter
Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedin~s were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read and it was ""'oved by Commissioner
Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; Uloae votinv Aye being Ma~Tor Busch,

Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the
applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the fol-
lowing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being IV:ayor Busch, Commissionnr .:Jorenson and
Commis sioner Lancloe; those voting No, none.

Assessment
The Manager s ta ted thi s was the time and place set for hearing protes ts to the final
adoption of Resolution No. 522, levying the assessment for weed removal for 1942. Be
presented affic1avi t of publica tion of the Notice to propert;T owners, and 8 t8ted no one
was present to protest and no protests had been filed. He presented Resolution No.

Purchase of Stoker
The }ranarrer stated thnt after much inquiry and investiQ'ation, a stoker sl;itable for
use in the City Hall had been located. Th8t he had asked tbe P. L. Dye C011')pany to submit
a bid on this stoker. The. bid was opened and found to be substantially as follows:
The F. L .:)ye Company ai!rees to furnish And completely install one used Stokol Au tOP-Ia tic
stoker, fully equipped for successfful operation for the 811m of ~j;365.00
After discussIon, it was moved b~T Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner
Sorenson that the City Manap:er be alJthorized to purchase said stol{er from the F. L. Dye
Company for $365.00 and the motion was carried by the following fiye and No vote; those

Communicn tion -- PoLicemen & F'iremen
R. C. Embry and Robert Mullica of the Police Department and W. o. Matthews and Wm.
Pentilla of tIle Fire Depart~ent appeared before the Commission and presented a written
request for an increase in salary of 15% as of January 1, 1942, in place of the 7l% raise
granted on that date, to meet the increased cost of Living due to war conditions.
The Man8ger stated that the money was not availnble in the bud(J"et for the year end-
ing ~Ine 30th, 1943, and had long since been adopted and no emerqency existed. After
prolonged discussion, the matter 'was taken under advisement.
Communication -- ,~:)tqtel)irector OPA
The Mayor read a communication from the Sta te Director of OPA, asking the Ci ty of
Bozeman to ,cooperate in the conservation of rubber.

The Mayor announced that lmder the, au thori ty invested in him by Subsection 15 of Sec-
tion 5030, R.C.I,,'i. 10:{), he hnd remitted the jail sentence of Robert James Smith, explaln-
ing tha t the su.<;fQ'estion had come to h1m from the officers in charGe as well as from the
prisioner's relatives and friends.
