HomeMy WebLinkAbout1942-12-18 488 Bozeman, Montana December 18th, 1942 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Friday evening, December 18th, 1942, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Busch, Commissioner Landoe, Commissioner Sorenson, City Attorney Aitken, City Manager ~linnell, Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lancloe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that tho minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Petition -- Beall Park Skating Rink Mr. Robert Lamphear, Mrs. Gail Kinyon and another, representing the Hawthorne, PTA, appeared before the Commission and presented a petition, signed by residents on the North side, urging tha t the ska t~ng rink a t Beall Park be main talned as in former years. They stated that due to pas rationing they could not take their children to the south part of' town to's-kate, and if the children walked, they would not get home until late; that they would like to have the rink at Beall Park opened in the evenings for skating; that more revenue could be raised if free skating tickets were not passed out before being thoroughly investigated and that all signers on the petition would be will- ing to buy tickets. They stated further that expenses could be cut by having only one supervisor instead of two slJpervisors. The matter was carefully considered and records for previous years were produced to show comparative operating costs and other factors used in setting up the new scbernlle for Beall Park. It was further explained that the City Commission had acted upon the recommendation of the Board of Recreation in adopting the plan and the members of the Committee present were advised to appear before the Recreation Board at its next regular meeting, December 313 t, 1942, for further discussion and a possible solution of the problem that would be satisfactory to all parties concerned. Applications for Beer & Liauor Licenses The followinp:: applications for City Beer and Liquor Licenses were presented and read: The Oakes Hotel Bozeman Joe Toohey It was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson and Com- missioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Rules for Department of Safety 'l'he report of the COMr.li ttee appointed, November 13th, 1942 to submi t a code of rules for the governmpnt of the Departmont of Public Safety and the Divisions of Police and Firemen, namely, City Commissioner Landoe, City Manager ~linnell, City Attorney Aitken, Chief of Police Embry and Act~nIT Fire Chief McCrosson, was read at length. After due consideration b;T the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commission Sorenson th8t the report of the Committee be approved, filad, and the rules as recommended be Adopted and promulgated as of this date, and all rules and parts of rules in conflict therewith be and they are hereby revoked, and the motion I I I I I I 4(~9 was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those v oting Aye being Mayor Busch, Com- C. missioner Landoe, and Commisflioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Communication The Manager read a communication from The Salvation Army thanking the City Adminls- tration for its support of their program for aid to the unemployed and unfortunate during the pas t year. Ad,journment 'There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commlsflioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson tha t the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; thosevoting Aye being 1V1ayor Busch, Commissioner Landoe and CommlssionerSorenson; those voting No, nono.
