HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-01-29 I I I BozeY'lan, Montana .Tanuary 29 th, 1943 4~)7 The Commission of The Cit:.v of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, January 29th, 1943, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Busch, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Landoe, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, and the Clerk, when the following proceedin~s were had to-wit: The minutes of the laRt regu.lar session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting A;le being Ma ~Tor Busch, Commie sioner Sorenson and Commissioner Landoe; those vot ing ~;o, r:one. Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read: Business: Canton Cafe Gas Co-op Cliff Cafe Phillips Book Store Bon Ton Flour Mills College Hill Grocery Li quor : Hotel Baxter Owenhouse I~rdware Co. Galla tin Farmer r s Co. Ci ty Dye Works Bon Ton Bak cry Story Motor Supply Beer: Park Ice & Cold Storage It was moved by Commissioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the appli- cations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No va te; tho se vo ting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Soren son and Commis sioner Landoe; those voting No, none. Health Department The MaTI-9.ger s ta ted Dr. Brewer had reported his nurs ::.ng staff had been cu t by the State Board of Health; that he had wired the State Board that the City Administration feels it would be detrimental to the local health program to reduce the number of nurses on the staff at this time. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the action of the Ci ty Manager be approved and the motion was carried by the followlng Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Busch, Commissioner Landoe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Nursery School The Manager stated he had received information that the WPA Nursery School would be closed February 1st; that he had made immediate application for further Federal Aid under the Lanham Act to conttnue the Nursery School Project. Community Room Armory The Ci ty Mana ger. s ta ted he had contac ted the AAA in regard to renting the Communi ty Room at the A~ory; that the AAA officials had informed him no formal application had as yet been made to Washington for the rental of this space and that they had suggested ar- rnagemonts be made whereby the Armory Board would take over the Community Room by reducing the Ci ty' s quarterly payment by the amount of the requj.red rental; that the Board c0uld, in turn. lease the COITl11'n.mlty Room directly to the AAA, substantially in the same manner and at the same rate per square foot as the Armory Board-AAA lease now provides. The AAA officials agreed to try and work out some such plan with theArmory Board. 4.~)8 Request for Use of Drill Hall The Manager stated that Carl F. Kranzel of the Prepardness Committee of the American Red Corss had made application for emergency use of the Drill Hall at the Armory in con- nection with housing and canteen facilities thnt might have to be provided as a result of enemy action or on account of some other disastorous occurrence; and that Mr. Louis True, Publici ty Agent for Mon tana Sta te Coller:e, had also made inquiry for use of the Drill Hall to house army s tuden ts in connec tion with their training a t the College, should occasion make such use necessary. Mr. Ql1innell stated .tha.t both men were informed that the City would co-operate with them to the fullest extent in any worthwhile public use program. Fire Department Legislation Mr. Wm. Pentilla and John McCrosson. of the Fire DepartTent appeared before the Commission and told of the proposed legislation effecting Firemen. Ad1ournment. .. There being no further buslnes~ to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Comr!'issioner Landoe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No ,vote; tbose voting Aye being Mayor Bus ch, Commis sioner doren son and Commis si oner Landoe; those vo ting No, none.
