Dog Question Discl1ssed.
The ma tter of the passar~e of an ordinance prohibi ting dogs running a t large in The
City of Bozeman, which has been discussed and given consideration by the City Commisrdon
several times waS again brought up for discussion.
It was pointed out that in order to keep dogs from running at largo, it weuld be
necessary to have a full-time dog m8.rshall employed during the greater part of the year;
3B4
thB t the lie ens ing of dogs wonld be more difficul t if they were ke pt up or on leashes
and that probably the am01Jnt of the license fee wOllld have to be reguced.
After prolonged discussion and consideration, :t t was decided that before the present
ordinance is amended or repealed and the rr:ore drastic rreasure adopted, a vigorous attempt
would be mRde to more strictly enforce the present ordinance. It was suggested that a
dog marshall be employed for a longer period of time to see the t all dogs are licensed
and wear their license tags, and all unlicensed dogs be dealt with in accordance with
the proviSions of the present ordinRnce. 'The proposed ordinance preventing dogs from
running at large was therefore tabled for the time being.
