The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, <Tan1lery 30th, 1942, at 7:30 o'clock P.N:- Those being
presen t were Ma :)Tor Busch, Cnmmis s ioner Landoe, Commis 8 ioner Sorenson, City A ttorne y Aitken,
City Manager Quinnell, Director of Finance 1;Valter Davis and the Clerk, when the following
proceedings were hqd to-wit:
The minutes of the IRst regular session were road, and it was moved by Commissioner
Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe that the minutes be approved as read and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those ~'oting Aye being Mayor Busch,
Commissioner Landoe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
Public Hearing -- Ordinance No. 714
The Manager stated this was the time and place set for public hearing on the Appro-
priatlon Ordinance No. 714. He prosented affidavit of publication of the Notice for
public hearings. 1,T;r. H. C. Skarie, a member of the Finance Comni ttee of' the Chamber of
Commerce appeared and asked if there was anythi.ng in the budget of interest to the Chamber
of Commern.e.
The Manager explained the increases in the bu(l.get, ~j:ue to r,"l:\se in wage and salary
costs and to increased costs in materials and supplies; that a considerable am0unt had
been blJdge ted In the Fire Fund for Capl ta 1 Outle. y.
There being nothlng further to be heard from those present, the ComJ'11ission ordered
the budget published as provisionally passed and set February 13th, 1942 as the date for
final passage.

Appointment Plumbing Board
The Manager read the resignation of Mr. Benjamin Jones as a member of the Plumber's
Examining Board. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Landoe
that the resignation be accepted and a letter of appreciation for his services be sent to
Mr. Jones, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those vot'ng
Aye being Mayor Busch, Commis s ioner Sorenson and Commis s ioner Landoe; thos e vo t:lng No, none.
The Mayor announced the appointment of Mr. J. S. Budd as the Journeyman Plumber
member of the Plumber's Examining Board. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded

by Commissioner Lanc;oe that the appointment be a:)proved and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Bu.sch, Commissioner Landoe
and CommissIoner Sorenson; those votinp: No, none.
Resolution: Re: Ssfe ~eposit Box
The Manager stated the Commercial National Bank renuested a resolution naming the
persons who should have access to the Safe Deposit Box in that institution.
The following resolution WAS presonted and read:
"RESOLYED: Tha t un til wri tten notice to the' con trary is given by this corpor-
at'ion to the Safe Deposit Department of Commercial National Bank access to
Safe Deposit Boxes (herein called safes) standing in the name of thls corpor-
at1.on in the vaults of above named bank shall be hAc] by the following official:
Walter Davis, .Jirector of Finance, for the city of Bozeman, Montana,
who shall f18 ve full au thori ty to en tor said, safes and to make deposi ts therein
or remove an y part or all of the contents thereof, to ren t safes and to exe-
C1J te leases th.ereof in the name of this City, to amend or cancel said leases,
to exchang~ or surrender the safes, and in all other respects to rep~esent

Ordinance No. 715 -- Annual Salsry Ordinance
The Manager stated that the annual salary ordinance fixing the salaries of the
heads of the departments anc'; the emploY3Bs or the City Commission had been prepared. He
presented and read Ordinance No. 715, entitled:

It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commi!?sioner Landoe that the
Ordinance be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No vote; those vo ting Aye baing Mayor Busch, Comrnis :'.1 ioner Sorenson and Commis sioner
LandoB; those voting No, none.
Application for Space in Armory
The Manager read a comnmnication from the American Legion, Local Post applying for
space in the Armory Bui1dinp'. It was explained th-:t the Legion would like to rent the
Recreation Room, kitchen and the two Adjoining small rooms, and that it could afford to
pay $50.00 per month for these accomodatlons.
The application was ordered filed until ffilCh time as the City's rights in the prem-
ises are more definit8ly determ1,ned.
