HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-11-28 ~ 37(i Bozflman, Montana November 28Ul, 1941 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission R00m, City Hall Building, Friday evening, November 28th, 1941, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Roey, Corrmissioner BUSCh, Commissioner Sorenson, City Attorney Aitken, City Manager Lake, Director of F'inance Walter Davis and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regUlar session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Rosy, Commissioner Buscb and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. I ~eouest for Increase in Wages Mr. ,Tohn McCrosson, Fireman, pres<mted a petition signed by the member of the Police and Fire Departments requesting an increase in wages to meet the increase in living cost. Mr. McCrosson was informed that the petition would be given consideration. The matter was discussed by the Commission and tabled. Petition to Close "Slau.c:hter House Road" The Northern Pacific Railway Company, through its local agent f. J. Seifert, pre- sented a petition signed by William Nuber and A. ;;;'pringer, asking for the closing of the so called "Slaughter-House Road", particularly where it crosses the tracks of the Com- pany about a mile east of its passenger depot. Said "Slaughter-House Road" is not a regularly laid out nor established highway nor city street, and if a highway at all is a highway by prescription, although within the city limits. The matter of closIng it was presented by Mr. Seifert at the reg'ular Com'11ission moeting of November 21, 1941.(8ee I minute entry) and f1Jlly considered and discussed. It was 1""oved by Commis sian ~cr Bus cll, seconded by Commis sioner Sorenson, tha t The City of Bozeman consents that said "Slaughter-House Roa~" may be closed where it crosses the tracks of the Northern Pacific Railway Company as aforesaid, when the Railway Com- pany grades and ~ravels Cedar Street and the street is ready for traffic as it has pro- posed and offered to do. Bids for Fire Insurance on City Property The matter of insuring the property of The City of Bozeman with a blanket fire insurance policy was discussed by the Commission. The matter having been previol1s1y dis- cussed and the Com'1'ission be1.ng of the opinion th..,t the hangar at the Airport not be i:n- sured, under thif' plan, and that all other propcrt;: be inccured for a period of five years; it was decided to advertise for bids and ask for rates on coverage running from 50% to 90;0 COVE:ral7e. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Gonm.is"'ioner Busch that Mle City Manager be authorized to advertise for b1.ds along the l,tnes discussed, bids to be opened December 19th, 1941, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; tl~ose voting Aye being Mayor Hoe;:, Commissioner BUSCh and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting 1'70, none. Rules and Re::::ulations for Police & Fire Depts. Rules and regulations having been discussed for the 'joint operation of the Police Cen tral ;:)ta tion and Radio by the Police and :biire Departmen ts, and the rules having been prepared and presented to the Commission for their study, it was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the rules and regulations as submitted be " adopted, and the Mayor and Clerk sign for The City of Bozeman and the motion was carried by thef.'ollowing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye beinE:': Ma\'or Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
