HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-03-28 2~)8 Bozeman, Montana March 28, 1941 The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the COmmiSfJion Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 28, 1941, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Hoey, Comrnls~ionor Busch, Commisnioner Sorenson, CIty Attorney Ai tken, Ci t;v Manager Lake, Director of l"inance Wal ter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded b:i Commissioner Busch that tr10 minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by tho following Aye and No vote; those voting 11.:/8 being Ii.ayor BOGY, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Protests to Centralizing Recreational Program Representatives of the Parent-Teachers' Associations appeared before the Commission and presented potitions asking that the Recreational l:rogram not be centralized and that it be continued as it 1s at present. Mayor Hoe7T sta ted tile demand for free skating' had prompted the C1 ty Commission and the Recreation Board to try to devise a way 'to reduce operating costs of the rinks, in order tl:1at free skating may be had, at least in part, and the centralizing of the recre- ation had been suggested; that a straw ballot was belne; mailed with all water bills at the first of the month, explaining the prol:JoseLi centralization of the Recreational Program, and the people WOlJld ha\re an opportuni ty to express themselves. The matter was discussed flJrther by all those present but no actiun was taken. Applications for CJty Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented 6: read: Uontana Air Conditioning Co. Holland Furnace Co. L. IT. Surface It was moved by Commis s ioner Sorenson, seconded by Commls sioner Bus ch that the applica tions be approved and t.b.e licenses issued except the applica tion of the Man tana Air Conditioning Company and the motion was carried b;,' the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being r::ayor Roey, Commissioner Buscfj and Com:niss':onor Sorenson; tr~ose voting }'o, none. Offer to Purchase "Stevenson 80" The Mans Cer pres en ted and read the wri tten offer of T. ~~. Symmonds to purchase the "Stevenson Fl0" for $1600 less 5}6 real estate borker's comr::ts."'ic,n and the writt.cm offer of Kenneth Kraft to ~]rchase the "Stevenson 80" for $1600.00. The Mann":er stated that others had stated the~i would like to subrd.t offers and no action was taken pending other offers to be subrnitted. Appointment -- Conklinc; to Airport Board The Mayor announcej the a~~};.:ointment of r.:r. Leon D. Conkling to the Airport Board. Bond of J. S. Miles for Garbage Contract The Mans.gar presented the bond of Julian S. rUles for the garbac;e hauling contract for 1941. Experimontal Graveling of streets The Manacer stated that during the past few days available gravel for a low-cost surfac.lne; job for streets had been investigated; thai:; in order to fix the cost for gravel- ine streets and to determine if the gravel would be suitable for street use; that North Rouse between Lamme and Mendenhall could be graveled for this purpose. After discussion, the Commission expressed themsel,res as favoring graveling this block as an experiment.
