HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-04-18 30fi Bozeman, Montana April 18th, 1941 The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis:"ion Room, City IIall Building, Friday evelnc:, April 18th, 1941, at 7:30 o'clock P.]':' Those being present were i'/[ayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch, Commissioner Sorenson, Ci ty Attorney Aitken, City 1'.'1anager Lake, a.nd the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had towit: The minu tes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by CommHlsloner Busch, seconded by Connni ssioner Sorenson that the minu tes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner i.::iorenson; those voting No, none. Engineer's List of W & C 1941 The City Engineer, acting; under the provisions of Ordinance No. 561, of The Cit;,;'of Bozeman rela t"inQ' to tria construction of Walks and Curbs wi thout the forma tion of a -- l--.J special irrprovement district, submi tted his report for the 1941 inspection of walks anci curbs in the ci ty and :hi s recommenda tions in de tail wi th reference to neededrepairs and new ins ta11rc tions. The Coltl!Y.ission examined the report and ata ted tha t when the weather permj.tted, the list would be checl{ed by them. Police Service for Theatres l,~r. A. ~L Russell, Manager 0 f the Ellen-Rial to Thea tres, appeared before the Con- mission, to discuss witt. them special police 'service to handle the crowds at the theatres. Mr. Russell stated the service rendered by the police was for the protection of the citizens, who were attending the shows; that it would be impossible to handle the crowd without the help of the police; that the theatre is a public institution and used by the public and the servi:3e rendered by the police is a help to the public. 'l1he matter was discussed furtI'er by the Commission, and it was decided to write to other cities the size of The Cit~1 of Bozeman and see how they regulate tLe police s ervtce and also th.8 amoun t of ci ty lic ense charged for thea tres . The matter of painting a strip on the sidewalk to help handle tb.e crowd was dis- cussed, and Mr. Russell stated the line on the wall{ helped to protect the adjoining property from having their doorways blocked and helped to keep the crowd from blocl{ing the street. After flJrther dlsctlssion, it was decided to see if the crowd could be handled without the lino be:~ng painted in front of other property before a definite decision is reacl\ed. Applications for City License The following applications for city licnese were presented and read: J. A. Bridges Dr. C.D. Pons Dr. C. s. SlY,i th Dr. Sam Border It was moved b'Y Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor lIoey that the applica tions be approved and the licenses is sued and tLe motion was carrieci by t:-J.e following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being r,~ayor Hoey and Comnissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Vacating Stevenson 80 Mr. L. F. Huddleston, tenant of the Stevenson 80, appeared before the Commission and asked for relrrbursemcn t for ha vlng to vaca te the ranch sold to Kenne th Kraft; tha t it was so late in the season, he could not get pasture for a reasonable amount; tint be had pu t in dams in the di tches for spring irrigation ami he has a lease on the ranch until ~arch 1, 1942. I I I I I I Mr. Huddleston stated he owed the CitS for last year's pastl,re rent ann for part of the 1939 hay crop. The matter was discussed further, and it was agreed by Mr. Huddleston and the City Cornmis.sion to waive the amount whj.ch Mr. Huddleston owes the City for pasture rent and hay and the Ci t~r pay Huddleston $25.00 from the proceeds of the sale of the barley now on tIle ranch, as reimbursement for having to vacate tile ranch. kij oumm8nt There being no further business to come before tile Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commic~sionor Busch tba t tIle) meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo tine Aye being Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
