HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-05-23 316 Bozeman, Montana IvTay 23, 1941 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, May 23, 1941, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. rrhose being present were Mayor Hoey, 00m.'nissioner Busch, Commissioner Sorenson, Cl ty Attorney Aitken, City Manager Lake, Dlrector of Finance 7v'alter Davis and the Clerk when the fol- lowing proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regUlar session were read and it was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Corrunissioner Sorenson; those voting 110, none. Applications for City License The following applications for City License were presented and read: Wr1. Baxter G. W. Harker Franklin Fur Co. Alexander Art Co. Louise's Cafe It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the ap- plica tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the fol- lowing 'Aye and No vote; those votinG Aye being Mayor Hoey, vorr:missioner Buscb and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Protest -- Visco W & C 1941 ~,~r. rr. B. Holker and J\Ir. R. Bamberg appeared before the Commission and asked to be relieved of the cons truc tion of a new wa lk as ordered by the Ci ty Commis 8 ion for 1941. They stated they had ,just been ;;.,u t to the expense of paving and that the walks would serve very few persons and wasn't absolutely necessary, were their reasons for asking that the order be postponed. The matter was discussed by the Commission and the City Manager was instructed to write to Vir. Holker and I.1r. Bamberg to get a written statement as to when the walk would be installed if it was not ordered constructed tr,is year. Purchase of Csment The Ci ty M"anager s ta ted that cons iderable amount of cement would be us ed by the Ci ty during the summer and 'tha t a price of 66l.i per sack could be had b;l purchasIng a carload. It ViaS moved by 0ommisdoner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Busch that ., the City Manager be authorized to purchase 528 sacks of cement and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Com- missioner Busch and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Ordinance No. 710 -- Repealing Ordinance No. 707. The City Manager stated that the ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 707, which set the C1 tJT License fee for wholesaleing fresh frui ts and vegetables at $100 per year, had been prepared. He presented Ordinance No. 710, entitled: AN OR::::JnTANCE REP;::;ALDTG ORDINANCE NUMBER 707 01" T:JE CITY OF BOZE1\(jJ\N, E1\- TrrLID: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SUBDIVISION "(b)" OE<' }JART "C" OF ORDINANCE EO. 637 OF T:tlE C1 TY or;' BOZEr'JIAN, II REVIVING SAID SUBDIVISION "(b) II 01<' PART "C" OF SAID OHDINMWE NlnmER 637 AS IT STOO.J B:2;POHE Ai,IENDI\'IENT;PROVIDING FOR REFUNDS IN PART OF LICENSE FEES PAID UNDER SAID ORDINANCE NO. 707. After considerable discussion by the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner BUSCh, seconded by Mayor Hoey, that the Ordinance be passed and adopted and the I I I I I I 317 motion was carried by the followinr, Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Boey, Commissioner Busch; those voting No, being Commissioner Sorenson. Report The report of the State Board of Ifualth for water inspection was presented. It was moved by COr:1missioner Busch, secon:led by Co::n:missioner Sorenson that the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No voting; those voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Sorenson; those votling No, none. Petition -- He: Cleaning41p Lots on South Grand A petition signed by residents in the vicinity of Block 18, Butte Addition, was presented requesting the City Connnission to have the owner clean-up the junk and other material piled and scattered on lots 19 to 21; Block 18; Butte Addition. rrhe petition was accompanied by pictures showing the concl:i.tion of the lots. After discussion, the petition was referred to the City Attorney to order the owner to clean-up the lot.
