The Commission of The vi ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the CommissioIl Boom,
City Hall Building, Friday evening July 19, 1940, at 7:30 o'clock P.~l. Those being
present were Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch, Commiscloner Lake, Ci ty Attorney Ai tken,
City Manager Henderson and the Clerk when the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read and it was moved by Commisf:ioner
Lake, seconded by Connnis sioner Busch tha t the minu tes be approved as read and the mo-.
tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be1ne; Mayor Hoey,
Cor.unissionor Busch and Commissioner Lake; those voting No, none.
DeleGate to National Fire Chief Convention
The matter of attendance by Firo Chief W. O. Matthews at the International Fire
Chief's Convention, at Spokane, Washington, Au[!;ust 4 to 8th, 1940, tabled at the last
meeting, was again brouc:ht up for discussion. Chief I'!!atthews was present to inform the
Commission that this is the largest firemen's convention in the U. S., that there would
be much information to be gained by his attendance which would be beneficial to the
Bozeman Fire Department, and to request that his expenses to the convention be paid.
Chief Matthews stated that he would make arrangements so that he Vlould attend the
convention during his regular vacation time so that it would not be necessary to
hire an ex tra fireman durine 1:11s absence.
It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Cormnissioner Lake the t, it being
in the publiC interest, Fire Chief ly:atthews be authorized to attend this convention
and that his expense, in an amount not to exceed $60.00, be paid from the Fire Fund
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo ting Aye being
Mayor Hoe:r, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner l,.ako;those voting No, none.
Bonds of Police Captain and Police Judge
The bond of A. E. Anderson as Police Captain in the amount of ~lOOO.OO and the
bond of Lloyd Johnson as Police Judge in the amount of $1000.00 were presented. The
bonds were approved as to form b~r the Ci ty Attorney, whereupon it was moved by C@i'!l-
missioner Lake, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the bonds be approved and accepted
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being
Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Lake; those voting No, none.
Application for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Lake, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the app1i-
cations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote; thoc.'e voting Aye being Ma;Tor lIoey, ~ommis sioner Busch and Com-
missioner Lake; those voting No, none.
Bids for Misc. W & C 1940
The Manager stated that certain Walks which had been ordered built or repaired
during 1940 had not been constructed or arrangements made for their construction. He
stated further that the amount of walk construction was small. After discussion, it
was decided that the orders as made should stand, and it was moved b:' Connnissioner

for bids for the construction of the Misc. W &; C for 1940 and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being !ITa:yor Eoey, Commissioner Lal{e
