The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commis::iion
Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, February 2, 1940, at 7:30 otclock P.M. Tr~se
being present were Mayor Hoey. Commissioner Busch, C1 ty Manager lIenderson, Ci ty Attorney
Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings
were had to -\vi t:
The minut~s of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Busch, seconded by Mayor Hoey that the minutes be approved as read and the I'1otion was
carried by the followmg Aye and No vote; those voting A".le being Ma:ror Hoey and Connnis-
sioner Busch; those voting No, none.
Bozeman Creek Reservoir Company Meeting
Attention of the Corrmlission was again called to the anImal meeting of the Bozeman
Creek Reservoir Company, to be held B'ebruar:l 13, 1940. It was moved by Commis sioner
Busch, seconded by Mayor Roey , that Mayor Hoey, Commies ioner Busch, and Ci t~r Manager
IIenderson, or each or any of these three, be authorized to vote the stack of The City
of Bozeman at this meeting and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Hoey and Comrnissj.oner Busc11; those voting No., none.
Continuation Certificate
The Manager presented the continuation certificate of the bond of tile Owenhouse
Imrdwnre Company as a Gas Fitter. ~le certificate was approved as to form by the City
Attorney, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Mayor EoeY' tilB t the
Continuation Certificate be accepted and approved and the motion was carried by the

those voting No, none.
Release of Bond -- Marie Simkins
The Manager stated tlk'lt the Occidental Indemnity Company has requested release on
the bond of Marie Simkins as Stenographer and Asa't Water Collector effective August
1, 1939. Miss Simkins havine; left the employ of The City of Bozel'1an before that date,
whereupon, it was moved by Commis sioner Busch, seconded by Mayor Hoey tha t the Ci ty
![anager be authorized to sign a release on this bond effective Augus t 1, 1939, and the
mo tion was carried by the followinc; Aye and No vote; thos e vo ting Aye be ing Ma yer
Hoey and Cormniss:L.oncr Busch; those voting No, none.
Airport
Mr. Jacob Barer, Dr. F. T. Sabo and Mr. E. A. Stiefel, as a com1nlttee from the
Chanber of Commerce, appeared before the Commission to present a proposition that The
City of Bozeman take over the present lease, to the U. S. Government, on the Belgrade
Airport so thn t the t airport could be used as a Corrunercial airport. This Commi ttee rep-
resen ted tha t, if The C1 ty of Boz eman did take over this airport, there would be cer-tain
expense involved such as removal of a power line whIch runs along t{~ west side of the
field, eliminating or tiling a ditch which now runs adjacent to the field, mowing of
weeds as needed, and etc. Tlhey also stated that they had assurance that the U. S.
Government would continue the maintenance of the liGhts on the field even though the
City did take over the lease. After thorough discussion of the matter it was agreed
that this Commi,ttee, together w:lth the Cit~7 Comrni<'sion and the City Manager, would visit

the Belgrade Airport on Monday, February 4, 1940, to make a personal investigation of
proposed changes and improvemen ts and the t further action would be def'erred un til after
that investigation.

The Manager stated that he has audited fuses cla ims and flnds therl to be true and
lawful claims against The City of Bozeman and recommends that warrants be drawn for
their payment. After examination of the Claims in detail by the Commissioners, it was
moved by Comr.1ission,~~r Busch, seconded by Mayor Hoey that warrants be drawn for their
payment and the motion was carried by the followine Aye and No vote; those voting Aye
being Mayor Hoey; and Co:r.nnissioner Busch; thas e voting No, none.
Public Hearing 1940 Budget
The Manager stated that this was the time and place set and advertised for the
second of two public hearings on the BU"lge t as proposed for 1940; tha t there had not been
recei ved nei ther recommenda tions on or pro tes ts agains t the proposed budge t and tha t no
one was present to be heard on it.

It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Mayor Roey that the reports be
accepted and ordered filed and the mO.tion was carried by the followine Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being MaJor Hoey; and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
