Those being present wore Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Lake, City Attorney Aitken, City ~I~anager Henderson, Director of Finance 'ival ter Davis and the Clerk when the followinc; proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the las t re.c:ular sess:1.on were read and it was moved by Connnis s loner Busch, seconded by Cornnissioner Lake that the minu tes be approved as read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo tine; A:.re being Mayor IIoey, Commis- sloner Busch and Commissioner Lake; those voting No, none. Bids for Police Car 'l'he Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for a new police car. He presented affidavit of~;ublication of the Notice to Bidders, where- upon it was moved by Commissioner Lake, seconded by Commissioner Busch too t the bids be opened and tIle motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye be- ing Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commissioner Lake; tl:lof;e votincc; No, none. The following bids were opened and read: Northern Auto Co. (Chevrolet) Anllerson I.,~otors (Ford) 'Ii' 296.40 409.90 These amounts representing the cash difference on the trade-in of the present Plymouth car for tl1e proposed new car. It was moved by Commissioner Lake, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the contract for the purchase of a new police car be awarded to the Northern Auto Company and the motion was carried by the follovllne; Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Comrr.iss loner Busch and Commis sioner Lal<e; t..'1ose vot ing No, none. Garages for Blaclanore Apartments The Mana7er presented a sketch of a proposed new 4-stall garaSe at tile rear of the Blackmore Apartments to be used by their tenants. He called attention to the fact that the proposed building is to be of frame construction; that the location is in Pire Zone 1 I ",,' ,I I I I No.2, and that there are already three similar garage bUildings on these same prem- i80s so that the proposed new building would make no particular increase in the fire hazard. After dis'cussion by the Commission, it was moved by CornmisGioner Lake, seconded b;.~ Commissioner Busch that the Building Inspector be authorized to issue a perml t for the cons truc tion of these garages and the motion was carried by the followIng J.":"'ye and No vote; thos e voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Commissioner Busch and Commiss loner Lalce; those voting No, none. Comnmnication Re Sidewalk on Arthur. A communication from Mr. Joe Livers was read requestinE' that the City order in sidewalks to connect his property at the corner of l"ourt: and i\rthur Streets with 'Third and wi th F'ifth Avenues. After discussion by the Commission, it was decided to consult the effec ted property owners before any ac tion is talwD. Leave of Absence -- City Manager The ManaGer requested a leave of absence of ten daJs, commencing June 8th, 1940, to visit with his folks in Minnesota. It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by GOmmisf,ioner Lake that the City 1:anager be e;ranted this leave of absence and the motion was carried by the f'olloviing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being r~layor IIoe:r, Commissioner Lake and Commissioner Bus ch; thos e vo ting No, none.
