The COmTIlission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission
Room, City Hall Building, li'ridayevening, June 21, 1940, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those
being present were Mayor Roey, Commissioner Lake, Commissioner Busch, City Attorney
Ai tken, Ci ty Manager Henderson, Direc tor of .F'inance Walter Davis and the Ac ting Clerk,
when the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the lAst regular session were read and it was moved by Commissioner
Lake, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the minutes be approved as read and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote; thos e voting Aye being Mayor Hoey, Com-
missioner Lake and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 470 -- Intention to Create SI~ No. 335.
Complying with instructions given to him at the last regular meeting, the City
Attorney had prepared a resolution of intention to create Special Improvement District
No. 335, paving on Arthur Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue. The Manager
presented Resolution No. 470, entitled:

It was moved by Commissioner Lake, seconded by Commissioner Busch that the Reso-
lution be passed and adopted and that July 12th, 1940 be set as the date for hearing
protests against the creation of trus district and the motion was carried b'y the follow-
ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Boey, Commissioner Lake and Commis-
sioner Busch; those voting No, none.
Relocation of Fred Grove Sawnill
The Manager s ta ted trm t Fred Grove, who has opera ted a sawmill a t his residence
at 202 North Broadway and has had this sawmill moved out of the city for several months,
and that a petition of protest had been filed by many of the residents in that neighbor-
hood against the operation of this'mill when it was located on Broadway, now proposes to
move his mill into the City again. His proposed location of tilis mill now is along the
Milwaukee right-of-way some distance east of its former location, and in a location
where it will not be in close proximity to or within Si~lt of residences, and where it
should not create the nuisance which it did in the location on Broadway. The matter was
discussed by the Commission, and there being no objections offered, the Manager was
authorized to permit Mr. Grove to set up his mill in t:lis new location proposed.
Purchase of Snow plow Attachment for A-W Grader
The Manager discussed the need for additional equipment for snow removal. He rec-
ommended the purchase of a 1tV" plow attachment for the Austin-Western Motor Grader which
the City owns. He stated that the Empire Equipment Company, Billings, Montana, distri-
butors for Austln--Western machinery have a snow plow attachment of this type on hand on

which they have made a quotation of approximately ~480.00. It was moved by Cormnlssloner
Lake, seconded by Cornmis 8 loner Bus ch tha t the Ci ty Manager be authorized to purchase
this snow plow attacl~ent at a price not to exceed $480.00 and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor lIoey, Commissioner Lake,
and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.

Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:
Bozeman Welding Works
Electrical Products Co.
It was moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Lake that the appli-
cations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the follow-
ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Roey, Commissioner Busch and Commis-
sioner Lake; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Busch, seconded by Commissioner Lake that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo ting Aye being Mayor
Hoey, Commissioner Lake and Commissioner Busch; those voting No, none.
