Dear Commissioners,
You have a terribly difficult decision to make about the Black-Olive project. I have been
wrestling with this, considering what's right, wrong, fair, unfair, good for Bozeman, bad forBozeman, desirable and undesirable.
The Black Olive development has me very concerned for the future of the mixed, modest
neighborhood, the streets, and our downtown character for many reasons -
1) Construction fatigue (blocked off streets, noise)2) Parking issues
3) Traffic issues4) Size - the building hovers over the neighborhood, changing the character and "ruining" the
ambiance 5) Snow removal - where will it go? I live across the alley from a three-plex in town, and it is
a problem because there is no room on their property for the snow - I have to believe that therewill be no room on the Black Olive property for snow.
6) Noise - There will be over 60-100 people living on the property, each apartment with abalcony. Will people be able to sleep at night? Will there be peace in nearby backyards?
I think these issues are very real. This development is too large-scale for the particular location
and neighborhood. It will be the busiest, and highest-density development in the hart of thecity to date.
I vote no.
Sincerely,
Elin Hert
