Dear Mayor and Commissioners
I write to urge you to approve the project known as Black and Olive, submitted by HomeBase, in its most
recent iteration of design.
I can appreciate the difficulty in this decision, since it has become a bit of a lightening rod regarding
Bozeman’s density, infill, parking, economic development and more. I recognize that opponents may want
Bozeman planning to head in a new direction; that it may be time to revisit this subject (since the 2009
vision was adopted).
Regardless of the need for future discussions, this developer's project fits within the scope of Bozeman's
current planning/design parameters. To change the rules in the middle of the game is not fair and will likely
scare off further developer investments in our community (possibly for decades).
Obviously consensus for responsible, well-thought out development is ideal. And going forward I hope that
commissioners will be the needed leaders in getting our community through a planning process resulting in
a large percentage of citizens agreeing on our future. Your leadership is going to be key to that end.
So for now, please approve the Black & Olive project today.
