Honorable City of Bozeman Mayor and Commissioners,
I would again like to confirm my support for your approval of the Black & Olive Building. I have supported this, and
other similar or larger developments, to add to the housing in the core of Bozeman. I feel that this developer has
worked with the City to answer concerns and reduced the scale and details of the building from both city and
community feedback.
A substantial portion of that effort has been done to satisfy a very vocal minority of people who live in the
immediate area. This group has become intolerant of opposing views and has engaged in deception and hate. I do
not feel that anything other than a building half the size of the one proposed here or perhaps no building at all,
would satisfy this group. This is grossly unfair to people like me and others who would like to live in the area, but
also to those who hope for a more equitable core area of affordable housing, better transportation, and less
sprawl. It's been shown that cities that allow density are also better equipped to handle social issues, safety, and
security, not to mention increasing reductions in footprints needed to combat Climate Change.
I also wanted to let you know that I deeply respect and admire your Public Service during this difficult decision.
