Dear City Commissioners,
Bozeman needs to preserve the historic character of downtown and the charm of how it blends
into the surrounding residential neighborhoods. Maxing out profits for developers andminimizing the effect on downtown neighbors affects all of us negatively. North across West
Mendenhall from the historic downtown it looks like a hostile takeover, with a perimeter wall.Let's not permit this on the other side of Main Street as well. As far as parking impact, surely
we can't delude ourselves that 40 parking spots for 47 units will be adequate to preventsignificant car impact from the Black and Olive development. I am concerned that the
appointment of developers and architects to the 2015 task force, without inclusion ofneighbors in affected areas, and without following city notification regulations, resulted in the
issues that face us tonight. It seems to me that we should step back and form a trulyrepresentative task force, following city regulations, in order to come to terms with an issue
that has already resulted in altering downtown Bozeman's northern perimeter, and should notproceed in this fashion on the south side. We need to come to the table with a better grasp of
appropriate transitional zones between downtown and the neighboring residents.
Sincerely, Clara Pincus
