Subject:Affordable housing for single professionals and MSU staff

Dear Bozeman City Commission:
I have applied for a professional staff position at MSU and hope to get an interview, and if all goes well, a job offer.
I currently live in Salt Lake City, UT, but have visited my nephew, who attends MSU, on several occasions. I love
Bozeman for its beauty, small town feel and access to Nation Parks and the great outdoors. Out of curiosity, I
started looking into housing costs and was blown away by the cost of housing and lack of housing for single
professionals like me. I currently rent a nice, clean, huge 1BR condo in downtown SLC for $895/mo. I don't see
anything comparable in Bozeman. If offered a job with MSU, where would I live? I don't want a roommate at this
phase in my life, but can't afford any of the house rentals, which seem enormously overpriced. In addition, there
don't appear to be any apartment or condo rentals comparable to what I have in SLC, which has a higher cost of
living than Bozeman. My question to you is, what are you doing to attract single, talented professionals to Bozeman
and how does the current housing market reflect your actionable goals in this regard?
Thank you,
Anne Worthen
