HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-04-30 I I I 4'75 Bozeman, Montana Apri 1 30th, 1947 The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commi saion Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday, afternoon, April 30th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. In order that all city officials and city employees might attend the services of Walter Davis, the meeting adjourned until 4:00 o'clock P.M., when the following were present: Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager ~innell, City Attorney Aitken, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo- tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; thooe voting No, none. Applications for City Licenses The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read: G. W. Harker Sa vewa y Drug Marshall Furniture Breck Moving & Storage Galla tin Fa rmer' s Company Great Lakes Insulating of Mont. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the applica- tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the follOWing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Report The report of the Librarian for the month of April, 1947 was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be ac- cepted and orde.red filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and CommissIoner Lowe; those voting No, none. Deed fo West Koch fro~ l3th to 15th. A deed from Ella Werre deeding to the City of Bozeman the north one-half of West Koch Street from 13th Avenue to l5th Avenue was presented. The Manager explained that Mrs. Werre was deeding this land so that the water main extension could be placed in the middle of the Street and that the City of Bozeman was to move the Werre fence to the property line for consideration of said land. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the City of Bozeman accept the transfer of the property and the motion was carried by the fOllowing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Protest to Parking Meters A communication from the Cottonwood-Gallatin Gateway Farm Bureau wanting to know when and how a decision would be reached regarding the continuance of the use of parking meters. They stated that their organization have voted opposing parking meters and they would like to be advised what is going to be done by the City reg8rding the parking meters. The City Manager was instructed to write the Bureau and advise them that the contract for the use of parking meters would not expire until Au~st 1947. Communlca tion The City Manager read a communication from S. H. Mitchell, Adjutant General of the Won tana National Guard, s ta ting the t he had referred the Ie tter regarding the ren ta 1 of the 4.7fl Armory Drill Hall to the local National Guard to the Montana Armory Board. Insert Appointment -- Director of Finance The City Manager announced that he had appointed L. G. Shadoan, as Director of Finance, to replace Walter Davis, deceased, and that this appointment left a vacancy in the office of the Clerk of the City Commiesion. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Com- missioner Sorenson that the appointment be approved and that the Director of Finance act as ex-officio Clerk of the City Commission during this emergency and until further arrange- ments can be made, and the motion was carried by the following J1.ye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Ad ,10urnment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following rlye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Att~~ . ~k of the C~1on Insert Street Dance on 6th Avenue The Manager stated that a request had been made b;' two organizations at Montana State College to have Sixth Avenue between Babcock and Olive barricaded for a Street Dance to be held in connection with High School at the College, and that they wished the street closed from 1:00 o'clock P.M. until midnight. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting rlye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. ,.
