The Commission of The City of bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, 'f.!ay 21st, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager ~uinnell,
Ci ty A ttorney Ai tken, and the Clerk, when the following proceedin~s were had to-wi t:
The minutes of the last reQ'ular session were read, and it was rt'oved by Commiss ioner
Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commi.ssioner
Sorenson and those voting No, none.
Rental of Armory to Traveling Shows
Mr. A. M. Russell, local theatre owner, appeared rep'arding the use of the Armory Build-
ing for traveling shows, which are in direct competition to hls business.
He s ta ted tha t
over-head expenses preven ted him from ren ting his thea trB for the same price as the Armory
is rented for traveling shows, and he did not think that buildings built by tax money should
be used in competition with local businesses, and suggested that a license fee be charged
these traveling shows for their contribution to the local Community Chest, and other organ-
izations ~upported by local contributions.
License for Louise Cafe
Mrs. Louise Bra tvold and Ed. Holden were presen t to ask if they had to pay the full
license fee for the operation of the Louise Cafe, as they had only recnetly taken over the

business and thought they should only pay for that part of the year. They were informed
that the license ordinance provided for a full year's fee, if the business is in operation
before July 1st, of any ye8r.
Applications for City Licenses
The followin~ applications for City Licenses were presented and read:
Bozeman Granite Works
Bozeman Veterinary Hospital
and the following applicRtions for City Beer and City Liquor Licenses were also presented
and read:
Baxter Hotel
Bozeman Country Club
It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the applications
be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; t hose voting i'1ye being Mayor Heal y and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
F.B.I. School
was read
A communication from the F. B. I./Stating that a Law Enforcement Officer1s Institute
would be held in Missoula, August 20 to 22nd, 1947. It was ~oved by Commissioner Sorenson,
seconded by Mayor Healy that it being in the ~lblic interest, the Chief of Police or Some
member of his Department be authorized to attend this Institute, and that their expenses
be paid from the General Fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, and Commissi.oner Sorenson; thoE'e voting No, none.
Communications
A communication from Mr. Campbell of Logan, Utah stating their appreciation to the
local Police Department for their assistance and co-operation in the Cleon Lee case was
presented and read.
Communications from the Northwest Airlines, Inc., and the Civil Aeronautics Board were
read, stating that Gallstin Field would be serviced by the Northwest Airlines, Inc. on or

about June 20th, 1947.
Commissioner Lowe entered and was noted present
Two Hour Parking on Side Streets
The City Commis~'lion again considered the advisability of two-hour parking on side
streets, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that two-
hour parking be allowed on South Willson, South Tracy and South Black from the alley south
to Babcock Street, on North Willson, North Tracy, and North Black from the alley to Men-
denhall Street; on South Bozeman from Main Street to Babcock Street; on North Bozeman
from Main Street to Mendenhall Street and on North Rouse from Main Street to the alley,
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being 1v1ayor
Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commiss:i.oner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
