The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, June 4th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock f.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, City Attorney Aitken and the Clerk, when
the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the followj ng Aye and No vote; tboE'e voting Aye being Ma yor Healy and

Reports
The following reports for the month of May, 1947 were presented and read:
Cashier
Police Judge
Sanitary Inspector
Fire Chief
Librarian
It was moved by Commi ssion8r Sorenson, seconded by Commirsionor Healy tha t the re-
ports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was cnrried by the following Aye and
No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson; those vc,ting No, none.
Bonds -- Cashier Henry & Director of Finance Shadoan
The bond of Donald L. Henry as Cashier in the amount of $2,000.00, and the bond of
L. G. Shadoan, as the Director of Finance, in the amount of $20,000.00 were presented.
The bonds were approved as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon, it was moved by Com-
missioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the bonds be approved and accepted and
ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting
Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.

Authorization to Safety Deposit Box
It was reported that the Commercial Na tional Bank wished the C1 ty Commission to
designate a person to be authorized to have access to the City's Safety Deposit Box at
their Bank, and the fo llowing resolu tion was thereupon presented and read:
"RESOLVED: That, until written notice to the contrary is given by this cor-~
poration to the Safe Deposit Department of Commercial National Bank, access to
Safe Deposit Boxes (herein called safes) standing in the name of this corpora-
tion in the vaults of above-named bank shall be had by the following: L. G.
Shadoan, Director of Finance, who shall have full authority to enter said safes
and to make deposits therein or remove any part or all of the contents thereof,
to rent safes and to execute leases thereof in the name of this corporation,
to amend or cancel said leases, to exchange or surrender the safes, and in all
other respects to represent this corporation."
It WI3S moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the Resolution
be adopted and the ~otion was carried b~ the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye
being Mayor Healy and Commissioner ~orenson; those voting No, none.
Resignation of L. S. Thorpe
The written resignation of L. S. Thorpe as City Engineer to become effective, July
1st, 1947 was presented and read. The City Commission expressed to Mr. L. S. Thorpe,
their regret on losing his services, experience and Information gained after having
served the City of Bozeman for the past forty-four years.

Claim for Encyclopaedia Brittannica, Inc.
Claim No. 680, in the amount of $192.00 on the Library Fund, was presented. It was
pointed out that the claim was subject to a discount of $11.52, if paid by June 4th, 1947,
whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the claim
be approved and ordered paid and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those votjng No, none.

Gravel for Veteran's Housing Unit
The graveling 'of streets and sidewalks at the Veteran's Housing Unit on North Tracy
was discussed, and it was thought that the City should fulfill their part of the contract
as soon as possible in regard to graveling streets and sidewalks.
Lease of Parking Lot
Chief of Police Haas, reported that Laura Ketterer would lease to the City of Bozeman,
for a parking lot, the vacant portion of Lots 9 to 12; block A; Tracy's 2nd, Addition,
located on West Mendenhall Street, at an amount of $31.00 per month for the first year, and
$35.00 per month thereafter. After consideration, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson,
seconded b~ Mayor Healy that the City Attorney be instructed to draw a lease similar to the
lease of the other parking lots on the above-mentioned terms and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote; those voting dye being Mayor Healy andCommissioner Sorenson;
those voting No, none.
It was thought by the Commission that larger signs calling attention to the free park-
ing lots should be placed on the lots rented by the Citv for free parking.
CommunicA tion -- Re: P1Jrchase of Lots of Bozeman Ledge # 18 AF & AM
A communication from the Trustees of Bozeman Lod~e No. 18, A.F. & A.~. stating that a
time limit of sixty days had been set by them from June 3rd, 1947, for negotiations for the
purchase of their property at the corDer of Babcock and Tracy Avenue, located in Block A,
of Black's Addition.
Recommendations Health & Sanitation Cnmmittee of Chamber of Commerce
A communication from the Board of Directors of the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce, stating
that their Health and Sanitation Committee made the following recommendations for consider-
ation by the City Commission:
1. That the black Maria be equipped with as many strechers as possible.
2. That the black ~faria and the patrol cars be equlppped wi th arm and leg splints.
3. That a unit of plasma be carried by the black Maria and pa trol cars.
4. 'l'ha t all police officers be given instruction in First Aid.
5. The purch8se of enclosed regula tion sani tary trucks for garbage d i s po s a 1 .
It was decided to give the communica tion further considers tion a t the next regular
meeting of the City Commission.
Adjournment
There being no further bllslnpss to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved
by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the meeting adjourn and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and TO vote; those voting Aye be1ng Mayor Healy and Com-
missioner Sorenson; those voting NO, none.
