HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-06-18 4~:l2 Bozeman, ~fl.ontana June 18th, 1947 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall B1Jildin~, Wednesday, ,June 18th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were ~layor Healy, Cornmie~ioner Sorenson, Commi~siocer Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commi8sioner Lowe tha t the minutes be approved as read, and the mo- tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, I Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Application for City License The application of Strong's Inc. for a City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the application be ap- proved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissloner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports for the month of May, 1947 were presented and read: Water Collector Director of Finance City Engineer It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for public hearing on the resolution levying the assessment for Special Improvement District No. 340. He presented I Final Passage Resolution No. 601 the affidavit of publication of the Notice, and stated that no one was present to protest and no protests had been filed. Resolution No. 601, was presented, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL THE PROPERTY IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 340 IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF WONTANA, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAKING THE IMPROVEMENTS WITHIN SAID SPECIAL IMPROVE1~NT DISTRICT NO. 340. It was ]'11oved b~! Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the resolu- tion be finally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the followin~ Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy. Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Resolution No. 603 -- Creating S.l.D. No. 345 The Manager stated that the City Attorney as instructed had prepared the Resolution creating Special Improvement District No. 345, for the extension of the water line on North Tracy from Aspen to Tamarack and on Tamarack from Tracy to Black Avenue. He presented and read Resolution No. 603, entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, UONTANA ,CRliArTNG SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 345 PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF COMMIS- SION RESOLUTION NO. 600 DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO DO SO. '\..3 Appointment of City Attorney and City Enpineer The City Manager announced that it was his intention not to make appointments to the office of City Attorney or City Engineer to fill the vacancies caused by the retirement of Walter Aitken and L. S. Thorpe, until he had consulted with Mr. M. E. Henderson, who will take over the position of City Manager October l~t, 1947. Mr. Quinnell explained that as City Manager, Mr. Henderson will have to work with the new appointees, his approval should be secured before the men are selected. Communications A communication from Joseph L. Nielson, from Mack's Inn Idaho, complimenting A. N. Haas, Chief of Police. on his considerate treatment and courtesy during his stop in Boze- man was presented and read. A communication from the Chief of Police stating that the Police Department needed a typewriter, a transmitter for the Police Car, a speed graphic camera, and an office chair, was read, and recommended for inclusion in the budget for the coming year. Bids for Crushed Gravel The City Manager stated that he would like permission to advertise for some crushed Commi s s ion er grt:\vel for street purposes. Whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by/ Sorenson that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for 5000 cubic yards of crushed gravel for the Street Department and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Ayebe,jng Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Band for Parade at Belgrade The Mayor stated that the members of the band had ask that they be paid for playing in the parade a t Belgrade dl,ring the celebra tion of the inaugural flight of Northwest Airlines at Gallatin Field, June 22nd, 1947. After discussion, it was moved by Commis- sioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the band be authorized to play for the celebration, and that they be reimbursed from the Band Concert Fund, for such services and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; tho se vo ting: Hye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commic~ioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
