The Commis sion of The C1 ty of Boz em8n me t in rSg'Jlar session in the Commis s ion Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, June 25th, 1947 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson. Commissioner Lowe, City Attorney Ait~en,
City Manager Quinnell, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe tha t the minutes be approved as read, and the mo-
tion was carried by the fo110wing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy,
Commis s loner Sorenson and Commi s s ioner Lowe: thos e votin" No, none.
Applic8tions for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

ca tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following

Resolution t~o. 604 -- Cr""'a ting SID No. 346
The Manager stated that the City Attorney as instructed had prepared the resolution
creating Special Improvement District No. 346, sanitary sewer serving Blocks 5, North t
of 6, 11 and 12 of the Springbrook Addition. He presented Resolution No. 604, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF TIlE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, CREATING
SPECI AL D!PROVE~~NT DISTRI:iT NO. 346, PURSPI\NT TO THE PROVISIONS OF' COM-
MISSION RBSOLUTION NO. 602 DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO DO SO.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the Reso-
J.1Jtion be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Jaycee Roundup -- police Supervision
A comnnmica tion from Bud Purdy, Manager of the Bozeman Roundup Association was read,
stating that the 8th Annual .Jaycee Roundup wovld be held, August 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1947; that
August 1st, they planned a street parade, with a bomb salute. They also ask for police
supervision for the car parkers of their organization. Chief of Police Haas stated the .Tay-
cees W01J Id need three men to help wi th each performance.
The City Commission were of the opinion that it was the City's duty to furnish po1ice-
men to preserve the peace and quiet at any 1ar?e public gathering.
It was reported that the Jr. Chamber of Commerce had prepared an article written for
publica tion in support of the Sewage Disposal Plant, but it had not been published. The
article was presented and read.
Construction on the Unplatted Ground on North Seventh
The matter of constrtlction of a dwelling on North Seventh on unplatted ground and
without a bl1ilding permit WAS broufht to the attention of the City Commission. Th~ City
Attorney advised th'3t in order to bring the matter of the platting of this land up for a
definite decision; and as long as the building is being constructed without a building
permit which is in violation of the City's Building Code, that construction of the dwelling
should be ordered stopped, and Mr. A. W. Coleman, Assistant Building Inspector and A. N.
Haas, Chief of police were ordered to so notify the owner, Mr. Paul Jones.

Canvass of ~pecial Election Vote
Sealed returns of the judges of election of the sewage bond election held on June
24th, 1947, purslJant to the provisions of Commission Resolution No. 599, ha vlng been re-
ceived from all precincts, the Commission, purS1JSnt to the provisions of Section 5278.12
Revised Codes of ~ffontana, 1935, proceeded, on motion of Commissioner Sorenson, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe and carried by the following Aye and 1;0 vote; Co"'missioner Healy,
Commipsioner Sorenson and Commissioner LOW8, Aye; Noes, none, to canvass the vote. The
returns were found duly certified, the check lists showing number of voters, with names,
compared wi th the tally sheets and found in agreement, and the vote for and against the
bond is SlJe, by prec inc ts, found as fo llows :

Whereupon, on roo tion of Commis~doner Sorenson, seconded b'; CommiE' si oner Lowe, the
proposed bond issue was declared approved and carried, the Commissioners voting as
follows: Commissioners Healy, Sorenson and Lowe, aye; noes, none.
Lease of Space in Armory B1Jildinrr
~r. L. H. Richardson, Chairman of the Montana Armory Board, appeared before the Com-
m1 fJ."ion and discussed the status of the agreement the City has with the Montana Armory
Board, for the leasing of the Drill Hall, Community Room and the garages of the local Armory.
Application for Beer License
The application of Ralph Williams for an off-premises retail beer license at l37
East Main was presented and read. Mr. Williams was present and stated that he had paid
for his state license, but could not complete the city's application until he had received
his license from the state. Whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Sorenson that the application be approved and the license issued, subject
to the stete license being issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No
vote; those voting Aye belng J\:ayor Healy, Commissionor Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe;
those voting No, none.
