The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, July 9th, 1947, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Ma~'or Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City IVianaa:er i.:iuinnell,
Wal ter Ai tken and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were ha d to-wit:

Lowe, seconded by Commiss ioner Sorenson tha t the minu te s be approved as read, and the mo-
tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye bejng Mayor Healy,
Commissioner Sorenson, and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Bids for Gravel stock pile
The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for a
stock pile of approximately 5000 cubic yards of crushed gravel. The Manager stated that
before the bids wsre opened he W01Jld like to explain to the bidders tha t the crushing should
start wi thin thirty days and continue wi th01Jt undue interruption until the contract is com-
pleted, and th8t the contractor may stock pile the curshed gravel immediately south of the
present pit on much smoother ground. Paul Lee representing Edens and Lee and R. E. Malsor,
representing the Standard Cons truction Company ste ted the y were agreeable to these stipu-
lations as part of the call for bids. Whereupon, the call for bids was read, and it was
moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that trle bids be opened and
the motion was carried by the following .iye and No vote; tho se voting Aye being Ma;yor
Healy, CommissIoner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
The followin~ bids were opened and read:

the City, & 75i per cu. yd. if taken dir-
ectly from the bins.
As the bid of the Gallatin Sand & Gravel Company did not comply with the call for
Edens & Lee

bids, it was not considered. Paul Lee stated that his organization could start crushing
wi thin ten d8Ys, whereupon it was ""oved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commiasioner
Lowe that the bid of Edens and Lee be accepted and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner
Low8; those voting No, none.
Claim of Standard Construction Co. -- S.I.~. No. 343
The claim of the Standard Constr1.1ction Company for partial payment for work completed
under their contract for Special Improvement District No. 343, in the amount of $3603.00 was
presented and read. After examination of the claim, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe,
seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the claim be allowed and a warrant drawn for its pay-
ment and the motion was carrjed by the followin~ Aye and No vote; tbose voting Aye being
Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenron and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Platting of Ground on North Seventh
Nr. Paul Jones again appeared before the Commissior in regard to the platting of a
tract of land on Seventh Avenue north of Durston Road. He reported that the land in ques-
tion had been transferred to fifteen different buyers, and it seems that each buyer has
his own idea regarding the plattine; of the tract. Mr. Jones f'tated that he was willing to
chart his portion of the tract in accordance with the requirements of the law, and that he
would submit a proposed plat at the next meeting for consideration by the City Commission.

Reports
The following reports for the month of June, 1947 were presented and read:
Cashier
Cemetery Board
Sanitary Inspector
and the City Manager's Quarterly report for the quarter ending June 30th, 1947 was also
presented and read. It was moved by CommiRsioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson
that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the foll~ing
Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Contract for Garbage Disposal
The contract of Henry Suhr for the collection and disposal of garbage from the resi-
dential section of the City was presented and read. It was decided that the contract
be so drafted it can be cancelled after a thirty days notice any time after the first six
months period, which begins, July 1st, 1947, whereupon, with the above correction, it was
moved by Comm:i ssioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe tha t the contract be accepted
and approved subject to the filing of the proper bond by Henry Suhr, and that the Mayor
and the Clerk be authorized to sign the contract for The City of Bozeman, and the motion
was carried by the followin~ Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commis-
sioner ~orenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Request for Sidewalk on Sovth Church
The Manager reported that Mr. B. H. Thomas, 411 South Churc~had requested that the
City of Bozeman construct a sidewalk on the east side of Bogert's Grove to connect with the
sidewalk on his property. He stated that the request would be referred to the City Engi-
neer for an estimate on the cost.
Additional Shop Space at City Yards
The Manager stated that it was necessary to provide for additional storage space for
Ci ty equipment, and explained the old buildings or sheds now in use should be replaced wi th
prefabricated metal buildings. He stated further that if agreeable to the City Commission
the call for bids wOlJld be prepared and presented to the Commission in the very near future.
Leasing of Parking Lot from Laura Ketterer
The leasing of the vacant lot on West Mendenhall owned by Laura Ketterer in BlOCk A,
Tracy's Second AdcUtion was again discussed, and it was thought that this lot could give
considerable more parking space on Mendenhall Street, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Commissi oner Sorenson tha t the lot be leased from Miss Laura Ke tterer and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting bye being MaYDr Healy,
Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Additional Share in Mystic Lake
Mayor Healy reported that Mr. W. W. WcLeod had offered to sell to the City one share
of stock in the Mystic Lake Reservoir. The matter was taken under advisement.

There belng no further business to Come before the Commission at this time, it was
