HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-09-11 394 Bozeman, Montana September lIth, 1946 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, September Ilth, 1946 , at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe. City Attorney Ai tkeTI, City Manager Quinnell, Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wi t: ,I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo- tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commiss1oner Lowe; tho se vo ting No, none. Business District on West Nain Mr. Wm. K. Sharnanoff was present and s ta ted he had applied for a building permi t for a business building to be erected at 407 West Main, and that the permit was not issued to him because he wished to construct the building to the property line in the front and on each side, and this is not permitted by the Zoning Ordlns.nce. Mr. Shamanoff explained, that in his opinion, this was a suitable business area, and the business district would expand in this direction and that Bozeman needed additional business space. He explained further that property owners in this district seemed to favor this business building, and it was, therefore, suggested to Mr. SahmaDoff that if the property owners in this district favored buildings of this kind th8t they petition the City Commission to have the district rezoned from Business-Residence District to the Main-Business District, and the matter could then be referred to the Ad1ustment Board. I Applicat10n for City License The application of the Citizens Finance Service for a one-half year City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the following ~ye and No vote; tbose voti.ng ,tl,'ye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissi oner Lowe; those voting No, none. Claim for Freight on Ditct Dioger Claim No. 11087 of the Milwaukee Road, in the amount of $393.22 for freight on the trenching machine was presented and read. After examination of the claim, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the claim be approved and a warrant issued for its payment and the motion was carried by the followln; Aye and No vo te ; those voting ~ye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Peport The report of the Chief of Police for the month of August, 1946 was presented and read. Tt was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the report be I accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Ma;<vor Heal~r, Commissioner Sorenson Rnd Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Public Hearirp: -- Passa~e of Ordinance No. 742 , The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the public hearing on the vaca tion of the eas t and wes t aIle y in Block l4, Northern Pacific Addition. He presented the affidavit of publication of the Notice and stated that no protests had been filed and 3H5 and no one was present to protest. Wherellpon he presented and read OrdInance No. 742, vacat1ng said alley, en ti tled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, VACA TING THE EAST AND WEST ALLEY IN BLOCK 14, BETWEEN AYLSWORTH AND McADOW STREETS, IN NORTHERN PACIFIC ADDITION TO SAID CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA It was moved by Commispionor Lowe, seconded by Commissloner Sorenson that the Ordi- I, nance be passed and adopted and the motion was ca rried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; tho s e voting No, none. Lease of Blocks 3 & 4; Springbrook Addition A leas~ prepared by the City Attorney, of Blocks 3 and 4 of the Springbrook Addition, by The City of Bozeman for $lOO per year was presented and read. It was moved by 00m- missioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the lease be accepted as presented and read, and that the Mayor and the Clerk be authorized to sign said lease for The city of Bozeman and the moti on wa s carried by the following Aye and No vo te; those voting bye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those vot:;_ng No, none. , Plat of Portion of 2A Lot 1, Guy's Second Addition Jensen's Subdivision of a portion of 2A Lot 1, Guy's 2nd, Addition was presented. It was moved by Cornmissloner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the plat be approved subject to the approval of the abstract by the City Attorney and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Com- m'ssloner Sorenson and Comrni~sioner Lowe; those voting No, non e . I Leave of Absence -- City Attorney City Attorney Aitken requested a leave of absence with pay for the month of October, 1946 . It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe tha t the leave of absence be granted as requested and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those votj.ng Aye being Mayor Healy, Commi ss ioner Sorenson and Commis si on 8r Lowe; those vot~,ng No, none. Ad.i ournmen t There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe; seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following bye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Heal y, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
