The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commiss ion Room,
City Hall Build1ng, Wednesday afternoon, Oc tober 30 tt" 1946, at l:OO o'clock P.M. Those
being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commi ssi onsr Lowe, City Manager
Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, and the Clerk when the followinr proceedings were had:
The minutes of the last reg1Jlar session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner I
Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe tha t the minu tea be approved as lr'ead, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting ""ye being Mayor Healy,
Comm1s s loner Sorenson and Commi:'\s ioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Clair's
Claims Nos. 11268 and ll269 were presen ted and read as follows:

After examination of the claims by the Commission, jt was moved by Commiseioner Lowe,
seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the claims be approved and warrants drawn for their
payment and the motion was C8rried by the following Aye and No vote; those votin~ Aye bejng
Mayor Healy, Commissio~er Sorenson anc Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Funds for Band Concerts
Mr. Louis True, If Eud" Henke and Paul Enevoldsen representing the bandsmen of the local
band were present to ask for more bunds for band cone~rts, i.e. $l850.00 for 10 concerts
a ye a r , as there are now from 30 to 35 members 1n the band. The Committee s ta ted tha t new
members wished to ,join the band and there is no funds wi th which to pay them; tha t $l225
is needed for ins truments as the members are now borrowing instruments from the high school, I
and approximately $2000 is needed for uniforms. lhe Committee also asked for a different
place to practice other than the Armory as it was not always heated and the echoes made
it difficult for practicing.
They were informed tha t the 1M tter would be taken under advisement and the Commission
would do wha t they could for them.
Garbage Abated -
Mr. R. R. Williamson, 32l .::louth 5th Avenue was present to ask that one-half of the
full years' assessment for garbage assessment be abated from his property, as the hall Sf? wa s
not occupied during the year until Augus t and no garb8ge hauled until September lst, al tho
the water was turned on 1n June for con,struction work.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that one-half of
the assessment be abated and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those
voting .rlyet:eing Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Resolution No. 593 -- Assessment S.I.~. 339
The Manager presented and read Resolution No. 593 levying the assessment for Special
Improvement District No. 339, In the amount of ~;5230. 35 for a san i tary sewer in the alle y I
between lOth and llth Avenue from Koch to Coll8ge Street, en ti tled :

It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the resolu-
tion be provisionally passed and November 6th, 1946 be set as the date for hearing protests

The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for
the const~letion of Special Improvement District No. 343, sanitary sewer in the Normandy
Rearrangement of the West Side Addition. He presented and read the affidavi t of publica tion

The bids being less than the City Engineer's, 1t was moved by Commissioner Sorenson,
seconded by Commissioner Lowe tha t the bid of the Standard Construction Company be accepted
and the cashier's checks returned to the unsuccessful bidder and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.

The Manager stated tha t this was the tirre and place set for the openin~ of bids for the
construction of Special I~provement District No. 344, water mains in the Normandy Re-arrange-
ment of the We2t Side Addition. He presented and read the affidavit of publication of the
I Notice to bidders, whereupon, it wa s moved by Commis s loner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner
Sorenson that the bids be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye

Request for Extension of Time for W & C Contract 194E
A communication from A. Tobin requesting an extension of time for his 1946 Sidewalk
'I Repair and Construction Contract because of the shortage of labor and cement was presented
and read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Cornmissioner Sorenson tha t in view
of the circumstances tbat Mr. Tob1n be granted an extension of time to .June 15 th, 1947 , for
the completion of his contract and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Me ~Ior Healy, .Jmnmissiol1er Sorerson and Commissioner Lowe; those
