HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-11-27 4tH Bozeman, Montana November 27th, 1946 The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commiss1 on Room, City Hall Building, Wednesday afternoon, November 27th, 1946, at 1:00 o'clock r.M. Those be Ing presen t were Mayor HEBly, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, City Engineer Thorpe, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: I The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Bids for S.I.D. No. 344 The Manager stAted that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for the construction of Special Improvement District No. 344, water mains in the Normandy Rearrange- ment of the West Side Addition. He presented and read the Affidavit of Publication of the Notice to Bidders, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Sorensor, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the bids be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. The following bids were opened and read: Transite Pipe Cast Iron Pipe Edens & Lee $ 21,235.25 no bid Standard Construction Co. 23.554.90 $ 26,905.70 After consideration of the bids as submitted, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, I seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the bids be taken under advisement and the con- tract be awarded on or before the next meeting date, and themotion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Application for City License The applica tion of H. M. Marks for a C1 ty License was presen ted and read. It wa.s , moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Vacating Portion of Hayes Street The matter of the petition requesting that Hayes Street be vacated from South Wfllson Avenue east to the City Limits was considered. and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the resolu- tion of intention to vaca te said portion of Hayes Street and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and I Commissloner Lowe; those vot1ng No, none. Sale of S.l.D. No. 343 Bonds The Manager presented and read, the form of advertisement for the sale of Special Im- provement District No. 343 bonds, in the approxima te amount of $15,103.40. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the Clerk be instructed to adver- tise for the sale of said bonds as provided by law, with the bids to be received by January 8th, 1947, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commlss10ner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Reques t for Use of Armory The Manager reported that the VFW had requested to use the Armory. Drill Hall whenever it was not otherwise in use for the practicing of basketball. After consideration, it was I thought to be unwise to tie up the use of the hall for such an indefinite time. Request for Yellow Parking Strip The Manager stated th:t Mrs. K. J. Stimson had requested that a yellow parking strlp be painted on the curb at the Blackmore Apartments. It was thought tha t a yellow parking strip Was not neoessary here. Report of Meeting on Juvenile Delin~uency Mr. A. N. Haas reported on his trip to Washington D. C. where he attended a meeting on juvenile delin~uency. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Connnission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following ~ye and No vote; those voting Aye belng Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
