The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in reg1Jlar session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Thursday afternoon, December 26th, 1946, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those
being present were Mayor Healy, Commissio~er Sorenson, City Manager Quinnell and the Clerk,
when the following proceedings were had to-Wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner I
Sorenson, seconded by ~~ayor Healy tha t the minu tesbe approved as read, and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No \Ote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Com-
missio~er Sorenson; those votirg No, none.
Insurance
The Manager stated that Mr. Fred Willson, Architect, had re-appraised the City
porperty for insurance purposes, and the t due to the increa se in replacemen t cos ts, that
valuation of Clt~ property has increased about 25%.
Extension of Bozeman Canning Company Agreement -
The Manager presented and read an extension of the Agreement by and between the
Bozeman Canning Company and The City of Bozeman, whereby the present agreement for the
Canning Company to use the Ci ty sewer, is extended, subject to certain limitation~ to
September 30th, 1947. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that
the extension be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
Report -- Burns & McDonnell
A supplementary report of Burns & McDonnell, Engineers for the City's proposed Sewage I
Treatment Plant, was presented and read. The report contained an estimate for the con-
struction of a plant for primary treatment only including screen, measuring devices, a
clarifler-floculator, sludge digesters, drying beds, control building and auxiliary
structures; but substituting facilities for post-chlorination of the liquid sewage in
place of treatment by filtration as at first proposed, as it was thought that the cost
of the plant could thus be very substantially reduced. City Manager Quinnell called
attention to the fact that this method of sewage treatment was now being used success-
fully in man y cities.
The report was taken under advisement by the City Commiss:1.on and the City Manager
reported tba t copies of the report had been sent to the State Board of Health for study
and suggestions and that a meeting of the State and City authorities to d1.scuss the plan
with Burns & McDonnell representatives would probably be held in the near future.
Petition to Rezone South of Hayes Street
A petition signed by property owners to include in the "A" Residence District all the
zoned property south of one-half block south of Garfield, tha t is now in the "B" District,
was presented and read. As the petition asked that a total of 336 lots be rezoned, and I
only 82 lots were represented by owner's signatures, it was thought that more property
owners should be represented on the peti tion before the required action is taken by the
City COmmUsslon.
Beautifying Entrance to the City on East Main
The Manager reported that a member of a committee from the Chamber of Commerce had
suggested that The City of Bozeman purchase property from the Milwaukee Railroad at the
east entrance to the City and that the property be landscaped as an addition to Lindley

Park, so there would be a more attractive entrance to the City from the east. The matter
was taken under advisement.

moved by CommiSSioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy tha t the mee ting adjourn and the
I motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy,
Commissioner Sorenson and those voting No, none.
