The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Wednesday Afternoon, August 28th, 1946, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those
being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commi~sioner Lowe, City Manager
Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the
followinp- proceedings were had to-wit:

onded by Commissioner Sorenson tha t the minu tes be approved as read, and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commls ~;:ioner
Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Construction of Sidewalk -- South Grand
Mr. Robert Treat, 1211 South Grand, was present and ask if the sidewalk eould be con-
structed from the corner of Garfield south to connect with the sidewalk abutting their
property. Mr. Treat was informed that the scarcity of materials made it difficult to con-
struct walk at this time, but that the matter would be investigated by the City Engineer
and the work expedited as much as possible.
Bids for-S.I.0. Nos. 341 and 342.
The Manager stated that this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for
the construction of Special Improvement Districts 341 and 342. He presented and read the
affidavits of publication of the Notice to Contractors, whereupon, it was moved by Commis-
sioner ~orenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the bids be opened and read, and the
motion was carried by the following ~ye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy,

The bid of the Standard Construction Company being the only bid received was opened
and read and found to be as follows:
For the furnishing Materials & Construction as advertised for SID 341 $20,197.45
For the furnishing Materials & Construction as advertised for SID 342 3,963.8U
Although the amount of the bids were in excess of the Engineer's estimate for the
cons truc ti on 0 f the propos ed improvemen ts, the Commission felt that prices would advance
still more. It wa s , therefore, moved by Commission Lowe, seconded by Commission Sorenson,
that the above bids of the Standard Construction Company be accepted and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner
Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
Street Lirrht -- 5th & Villard
A communication from Dr. J. Medendorp was read, asking that the water line be extended
on North Fifth Avenue and also th0t a street light be installed at Fifth Avenue and Villard
Street. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the
street light be installed and the motion was carried by the following aye and No vote;

Renuest to vacate alley in Block 14; N. P. Addition
A petition signed by R. A. Williams, requesting that the alley in Block 14 of the
Northern Pacific Add:1 tion be vaca ted was read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson,
seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the Reso-
lution of Intention to vacate the alley and the motion was carried by the following
Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commi?sioner ~orenson and Commissioner

Lowe; those voting No, none.
Lease of Diefenderfer Lot
The lease of the Diefenderfer lot at the corner of Bozeman and Babcock, for parking
purposes, which was approved at the last meeting was presented for the signature of the
Ma YOI' and the Clerk.
Public Employees Retirement Plan. I
The Manager s ta ted tha t this was the time and place set by Resolution for the can-
vassing of the vote of the qualified employees of The Ci ty of Bozeman to determine if The
Ci ty of Bozeman should participate in the Public Employees Retirement System. It was moved
by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the ballots be counted and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Whe reupon, the ballots of said election were counted and the results found to be
as follows:
For participation in the Public Employees Retirement System 30 vo tes
Against participation in the Public Employees Retirement System none
Whe reupon , the Commission declared the above proposition unanimously carried.
The Clerk's certificate showing tha t 96.8% of the eligible employees of The City of
Bozeman desire to participate in the Public Employees Retir~ment System was then presented
and read.

There being no fUrther business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
rroved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson, that the meeting ad.journ I
