Boz eman, Mon tana April 26th, 1946 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, April 26th, 1946, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk, when the following I proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sorenson and Mayor Healy; those voting No, none. Bids for SID Nos. 337, 339 and 340 Bonds The Manager stated the t this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for the bonds of Special Improvement Districts Nos. 337, 339 and 340. He presented and read the affidavits of publication of the Notice to Bidders, and stated there were some written bids and that some persons were present who would submit oral bids. It was then moved by Com- missioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the bids be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being fuayor Healy and Com- missioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. The following bids for S.I.D. No. 337 bonds were submitte~ opened and read: Grande & Company, Inc. Sea ttle par value @ 5t% interest Herbert Howell, City oral bid par value @ 5% interest It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the bid of Herbert I Howell be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. The bid of Grande & Co., Inc. for S.I.D. No. 339 bonds was opened and found to be as follows: par v"lue wi th 5% interest. Herbert Howell submitted an oral bid of par value @ 4.9% interest. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the bid of Herbert Howell be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. The following bids for S.I.D. No. 340 were then opened and read: Grande & Co., Inc. Sea t tIe Par Va lue ~ 5% interest Alford Yergey, Bozeman Par Value @ 5% interest. Reports I The following reports for the month of April, 1946 were presented and read: Water Collector SAnitary Inspector's Milk Report It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those vd[ng No, none. The report of the State Examiner for the examination of the Fire Department Relief Association books was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy tha t the report be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the follow- 344 ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Rental of Police Car A lease agreement between the Northern Automobile Company and The City of Bozeman whereby the City agrees to lease a Chevrolet car for the sum of $100 per month, the Com- I pany to keep the car in good running condition was presented and read. After discussion it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy tha t the Ma yor and the Clerk be authorized to sign the agreement for The City of Bozeman and the motion was car- ried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those vo ting No, none. Petition for Special Improvement District A petition of property owners requesting that a Special Improvement District be cre- ated to install water mains and a sanitary sewer on South Fifth Avenue from Hayes to Lin- coln street was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner SorenSJ n, seconded by Mayor Healy that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the resolution of intention to create the district and the motion was carried by the following aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those vd[ng No, none. Tag Day -- American CancerSociety The Manager stated th1t the American Cancer Society would like to have Saturday, April 27th, 1946 as their Tag Da y. It wa s moved by Ma yor Heal y, seconded by CommiSSioner Sorenson that the request of the American Cancer Society for a tag day April 27th, 1946 be I granted and the motion was carried by the following ~ye and No vote; thos e vo ting Aye being Ma yor Healy and Commiss loner Sorenson; those v oting No, none. Day Light Saving Time A communication from the Junior Chamber of Commerce stating they had adopted a reso- lution asking the City Commission to adopt Daylight-Saving time during thesumm8r months was read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Mayor Healy tha t the ma tter be taken under advisement and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Rea 1 y and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Request for Street Parade and Waiving of Carnival License fee A written request from the Junior Chamber of Commerce was presented and read, asking permission for a street parade on August 1st, 1946 in connection with their annual Roundup and also that the license fee be waived for the carnival to show in connection with the Roundup. After discussion, it was moved by Mayor Healy, seconded by Commissioner Soren- son that tn line'with decision made last year, permission be granted to stage a parade on Auguf:t 1st, 1946, but that the license fee be not waived for any carnival to show in con- nection with the Roundup and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; I those voting AYe'Qsing Mayor Healy and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none. Lt. Col Henderson Visits Lt. Col. M. E. Henderson, former City Manager, was present and spoke to the Commis- sion, stating he was not certain of his return from Europe, except that it would be between one and two years.
