The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in special sef'sion in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Tue sda y afternoon, May 21st, 1946, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell,
City Engineer Thorpe, Dr. A. D. Brewer, H. B. Foote, Dean Cobleigh, Clerk of the City
I Commission and other visitors, when the following proceedings were had:
Engineering Services for Sewage Plan t
Mr. Ben. T. Marsha 11, representing Burns and McDonnell, Engineering Company of
Kansas City, Missouri, appeared before the Commission and explained his company's proposal
and contract for consulting engineering services in connection with the proposed sewage
treatment plant for Bozeman. The proposal to cover field studies by the Company's Engi-
neers, and a careful analysis and written report on the same for the City Commission and
the State Board of Health together with engineering data, exhibi ts, estimates of cost, and
recommendations for the plant.
After examination of this preliminary report, if the City of Bozeman does not wish
to continue with this program it will not be obligated to do so; but if the City does
wi sh to continue further with this work, the Engineers will prepare'plans and specifications
for the work, assist with the letting of the necessary contract or contracts, and make
periodical inspection visits during the construction period. The Company will also fur-
nish a construction engineer at the City's expense, if requested to do so.
'Ihe City to furnish all available data on hand to assist the engineers in making the
I report. Mr. Marshall also explained the method of payment as outlined in detail in the
proposal and contract.
After discussi)n and consideration by the City Commission of the proposal as submitted,
the Commission fel t that the Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, being well qualified
should be employed as Consulting Engineers for this project, and it was moved by Commis-
sioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the Mayor and the Clerk be authorized
to ~ ign the Company's proposal and Contract for 'l'he City of Bozeman and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner
. Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further bus~ness to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved b,.r Commissioner Lowe, s econded b~~ Commis s ioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye bang Mayor Healy,
Commissioner Sorenson and Commis sloner Lowe; thos e vo ting No, none.
