The Commission of The Ci ty of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, May 24th, 1946, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, Ci ty A ttorne y Ai tken,
Director of Finance Walter Daivs, City Engineer thorpe and the Clerk, when the following
proceedings were had to-wit: I~
The minutes of the last regular session and special session were read, and it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read,
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being
Mayor Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, non e .
Resolution No. 573 -- Veteran's Housing Site
Mr. Bert Griffin representing the American Legion presented a map showing the plan

for veterans' temporary housing uni ts to be placed on the block immediately east of the
softball park which is owned by the City.
The Manager s ta ted tha t a resolu tion authorizing the use of this block for the tem-
porary housing units had been prepared and stated that the Recreation Board had approved.
He presented and read Resolution No. 573, en ti tIed:
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN DECLARING NEED FOR A
VETERANS' HOUSING PROJECT IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO NEGOTIATE A LEASE AT\!"'D AGRKEM~NT TO THAT END.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the Resolution be
passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those
voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. I
Applications for City License
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Healy that the applica-
tions be approved and the licenses issued & the motion was carried by the following Aye .-
and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Reports
The following reports for the month of May, 1946 were presented and read:
Water Collector City-County Health Department
It was moved by Commission8r Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the reports be ac-
cepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being M~yor Healy and Commissioner Lowe; those voting, No, none.
Water Line to Pole Plan t
The Manager reported that he had gone to Livingston and talked with the N. P. Division
,
Engineer regarding an old 4" water line on their propert' which mi~ht be used to serve the
L. D. McFarland Company's Pole Yard. He reported that this old line was shown on a map I
in the eng~neer' s office and the tit would be dug up and tested to see if it is in condi-
tion to be used at present. A letter to the local N. P. Agent suggesting that tne Nor-
thern Pacific Railway Company install and maintain the required water line as it would be
instal,led for the exculsive use of their tenant, and would be wholly constructed OR rail-
road property was also presented and read.
Bids for Cast Iron Pipe
The Manager stated he had information from the manufacturors of cast iron pipe that

it would be 175 days before deli very could be made on this ma terial, and it was thou gh t
that an order should be placed as. soon as possible as the Citywould need pipe by. the time
delivery could be made, and it was therefore moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Mayor Healy that the City of Bozeman advertise for a carload of pipe and the motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commis-

Parks -- TIecreation Director Employed
The Manager reported that the Recreation Board had recommended the employment of Mr.
Arthur W. Overturf as the general recreational director for the summer season. It was
explained that he is to be employed by the School Dis trict during nine monthJ:I of the year
and by The City of Bozeman for the three summer months.
Ad j ournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the meeting adjourn and the mo-
tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those votin~ Aye being Mayor Healy
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
