Subject:City Commission Black Olive Public Comment -urban density
Categories:Public Comment
Dear City Commission,
I write in support of Black and Olive and in support of urban density in general.
As our city grows, a dense downtown will trump suburban sprawl. Density will create a vibrant community
where people can live, work, and socialize downtown, obviating the need for a life spent commuting and
helping to prevent the seemingly inevitable growth of Bozeman towards the Main Gallatin.
While many seem to agree in the abstract with the need for a vibrant downtown that helps us avoid the well-
documented plights of suburban sprawl in other metro areas, the challenge normally lies in approving specific
projects.
We have a chance to approve a project consistent with the town's plan and consistent with the nation's best
thinking about how to accommodate growth, mitigate sprawl, and build a dynamic, vibrant downtown that will
make Bozeman an even better place to set up a business, live, and socialize.
Regards,
Will
