The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall ~lilding, Wednesday afternoon, August 14th, 1946, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. Those
being present were Co~issioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, City
Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis and the Clerk, when the following pro-
ceedings were had to-wit: I
The minutes of the last regular session were read, anp it was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Commis~ioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the
motion was cgrried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Oommissioner
Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Request to Use Armory Drill Hall
Mr. H. G. Klemme, Dean of Men at Montana State College, appeared before the Commis-

slon to request the use of the Armory Drill Hall as a temporary housing uni t for Montana
students at the State College until other units could be constructed on the campus. The
Commission stated they had previously approved such a plan and that they would co-operate
in every way possible in accordance with this request.
Parking -- East BabCOCk
Mr. Wm. Lovelace of the Lovelace Studio stated thHt people were parking their cars
in fron t of his studio for a considerable length of time, and that consequently his pa trOD,S
could not park there. Mr. Lovelace was informed that the curb at his place of business
would be painted yellow and this might give some relief.
Parking for F. S. Army Recruiting Car I
An army officer from the U. S. Army Recruiting Office appeared before the Commission
and stated that the space which has been reserved for the parking of their staff car now
has a parking meter and their staff car does not have a place to park. After discussion, .
it was thou~ht that the meter could be removed and the standard painted yellow and a sign
placed on the standard, by the recruiting office, stating that the stall was "Reserved
for Army Recruiting Car".
Public Hearing -- Ordinance No. 740
The Manager s ta tad tha t tY,i s was the time and place set for the public hearing on the
Appropriation Ordinance No. 740, for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1947. He ata ted
that no protests had been filed and no one was present to protest. He s ta ted tha t this
Ordinance would be finally passed August 21st, 1946.
City Attorney's Opinion -- Moving of Groc0ry Store In "B" Residence District
A written opinion of the City Attorney relative to Mr. Garvan Wiman movIng his present
grocery ouslness from 702 West Babcock to 622 West Babcock was considered by the Commission.
The opinion concluded that the Cit7 of Bozeman should not object in the absence of com-
pIa In t, and tha t if any compla in ts a re made la ter they can be de). t wi th as they appear. I
It was moved by Connnissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that Mr.
Garvan Wiman be notified that The City of Bozeman will not object to his moving his
gnoc8ry store from 702 West Babcock to 622 West Babcock and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sorenson and Commis-
sioner Lowe; those voting No, none.

Parking Lot -- Diefenderfor Lot
City Attorney Aitken reported that he had talked with Mr. Diefenderfer regarding the
City's leasing his vacant lots at the corner of South Bozeman and Babcock Street, for a
parking lot, but action was deferred on this matter until all members of the Commission
were presen t.

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vot::ng Aye being Commis sioner
Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting No, none.
