HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-01-18 3t1 Bozeman, Montana January 18, 1946 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, January 18th, 1946, a t 7: 30 P. M . Those ,'I being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson, that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Application for City Licenses The following applications for city business licenses were presented and read: C. A. Clark California Company H. D. Hogg Bozeman Jewelry Company Dahl Funeral Home I Coast-to-Coast Store Gamble Robinson Company College Hill Grocery The following applications for beer and liquor licenses were presented and read: Baxter Hotel Veterans of Foreign Wars Elks Club It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the applications be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Reports The following annual reports for the year 1945 were presented and read: Police Judge Building Inspector The following monthly reports for the month of December, 1945, were presented and read: Sanitary Inspector Plumbing Inspector It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson, too t the I reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner ~orenson and Commis- sioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Application for Retail Beer and Liquor License Mr. Robin MacNab was present and stated that if the City was going to allow more than eight retail outlets for beer and liquor, he would like to have a city beer and liquor license and was applying for said license for his brother, John K. MacNab, Edwin Pegram and himself. 312 He was informed, that at present the City Commission did not have any inten- tion of increasing the number of retail outlets for the sale of beer and liquor, but according to a recent decision of the Supreme Court regarding additional outlets in other cities, the City Commission might not be able to prevent him from selling liquor in the business district, if he obtained a state license. Mr. MacNab stated further that it was not his desire to attempt to force the I' city to issue him a license but as he wanted to be the first to get an additional license when and if the city granted any, be stated that he would submit an applica- tion for a city beer and city liquor license on the city's regular form accompanied by the regular fee and that it could be acted upon by the City Commission at some future time. Street Light at the Corner of West Koch and Eleventh Avenue J The City Manager reported that he and the City Engineer had investigated the . reouest for a streetlight at the corner of West Koch and Eleventh Avenue and re- commended that the light be installed on the corner of West Koch and Eleventh Avenue as it would serve a greater number of people. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, tha t the City Manager have a street light installed as suggested and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Bond The bond of John Joseph Sweeney as Janitor and Jailer in the amount of $1000.00 I. was presented. The bond was approved as to form by the City Attorney, whereupon it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson, that the bond be accepted and approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissionel1 Lowe; ,. those voting No, none. There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
