The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, January 25th, 1946, at 7:30 P.M. Those being present
~I were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, City
Attorney Aitken, and the Acting Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner
Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that the minutes be approved as read, and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy,
Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Request for Store on South Sixth
Mr. Floyd Butler appeared before the Commission to request permission to build a
building to be used as a grocery store on his property located at 1310 South Sixth, which
would be conveniently located for the trailer camp now being built at the Montana State
College. Mr. Butler was informed that he should submit a formal application to the
building inspector and should his application be denied, he could appeal to the adjust-
ment board.
Application for City Licenses
The following applications for city licenses were presented and read:

Home Grocery Belshaw for Tires Standard Oil Co.
I Frank J. Trunk Milam Greenhouses Nicholson Auto Court
McCay Hardware Ninth Ave. Grocery Bohart's Meat Market
Gamble's Store Phillips Book Store The Artcraft Printers
Rowles..Mack CQ. Kenny's Motor Sales Swanson's Mobil Station
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the
appllcations be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the
· following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson
and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Application for City Beer and Liquor License
Applications signed by R. B. MacNab, Jr. for a retail city beer and city liquor
license, accompanied by the proper fee, were presented and read. Attention was called
to the fact that these applications did not set forth the number'and date of the state
beer and state liquor licenses necessary for operation. It was thereupon moved by Comm-
issioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, that action on these applications be
deferred and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye
being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commis,sionerLowe; those voting No, none.

City Manager's Report for the quarter ending December 31, 1945
It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the re-
ports be approved and ordered filed, and the motion was carried by the following Aye
and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner
Lowe; those voting No, none.

Resignation C. Lee Hoatson from Adjustment Board
A communication from Mrs. C. Lee Hoatson, submitting her resignation as a member
of the Board of Adjustment because of her absence from the city, was presented and

read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Uommissioner Sorenson that the
resignation be accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; I
those voting No, none.
Purchase of Surplus Property
A booklet listing surplus property located at Seattle, Washington and available
for purchase by cities and towns was presented. The Manager called attention to
pieces of equipment which the Street Superintendent thought could be used by the
city of Bozeman. After consideration by the Commission, it was thought the t this
equipment should be investigated and it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by
Commissioner Sorenson that the City Manager, the Mayor and the Street Superintendent
be authorized to go to Seattle and look over this surplus property to see if the city
can use any of it and that their expenses be paid from the city's general fund, and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it
was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, tha t the meeting
adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting I
Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; thos e vo ting No,
