The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 8th, 1946, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present
were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe. City Manager Quinnell, City
Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe, and the Acting Clerk,

The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner

Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion
was c8rried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commis s loner
Sorenson and Commis8ioner Lowe; those vo ting No, none.
Wading Pool -- Cooper Park
Mr. Cha rles Turner, President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Com-
mission in connection with the offer of his organization to build a wading pool in one of
the City's parks, and the City's acceptance of the offer, which provided that the pool be
constructed at Bogert's Grove. Mr. Turner explained that the Jaycees' ori~inal offer was
to build a wading pool in Cooper Park, and that if this could not be done the Junior Chamber
of Commerce wished to withdraw its offer. 1ilr. Turner was adivsed that a wading pool such
as had been contemplated would probably have to be fenced and attended by some responsible
person at all times while in use, and tha t therefore Bogert's Grove would seem to be the
only logical place where the requirements could be prOVided for.

I The Manager s ta ted this was the time and place set for the opening of bids for the con-
struction of Special Improvements in Districts No. 337 a sanitary sewer on Tamarack Street
from Rouse Avenue to Church Avenue; in Special Improvement District No. 339 for a san i tary
sewer in the alley between Ten th and Eleventh Avenues from Koch to College Street; and in
Special Improvement District No. 340 for the con~truction of a sanitary sewer on North
Fifth Avenue, between Peach Street and a point fifty feet south of Beall Street.
The affldavtis of publication of the Notice to Contractors were presented and read,
whereupon it was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson tha t the bids
be opened and read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo ting
Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; thos e voting No, none.
The Standard Construction Company being the only bids received were opened and found
to be as follows:

The bids comparing favorably with the Engineer's estimates, it was moved by Commissioner
Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the bid of the Standard Construction Company,
I in the amount of $936.35, for the construction of Special Improvement District No. 337, be
accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being
Mayor Healy, Commis sioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe, t ha t th e bid 0 f

Improvement District No. 339, be accepted and the mo tion wa s carried by the following Aye

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson, that the bid
of the Standard Construction Company in the amount of ~;4002.50 for the construction of
Special Improvement District No. 340, be accepted and the motion was carried by the fol-
lowipg Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Com-
mis sioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Reports I
The following reports for the month of February, 1946, were presented and read:
Plumbing Inspector Director of Finance
and the Plumbing Inspector's report for the month of January, 1946.
It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commi ssier er Lowe that the reports
be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote;
those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those
voting No, none.
Applications for City Licenses
The following applications for City Licenses were presented and read:

It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the applica-
tions be approved and the licenses issued and the motion was carried by the following rlye
and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and CommiSSioner I
Lowe; those voting No, none.
Insurance Policies Approved
Fire Insurance Policies in the amount of $15,000.00 were presented. The policies were
approved by the City Attorney, whereupon, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded
by Commissioner Lowe that the policies be accepted and approved~ and the motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe;
and Commiss:i.oner Sorenson; fuose vo ting No, ncme.
Proposed Pus Rou te and Stops
Chief of Police Ha8S was present and stated that he and Mr. L. C. Woodburn, of the City
Taxi Lines, had selected a proposed bus rou te and stops to be used in connection with the
new bus service. It was thought tha t the bus route and stops could be determined best by
trial and no action was taken by the Commission.
Parking Meters
Mr. O'Brien of the Duncan-Miller Meter Corporation was present and stated that he had
recently install~d parking meters in Helena and B;llings and that meters were to be installed
,in Livingston in the near future. Mr. O'Brien also explained the plan of installing meters I
on a trial basis.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissiorer Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson the t the meeting adjourn and
the mo tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy,
Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
