HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-03-15 327 Bozeman, Man tana March 15th, 1946 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, March 15th, 1946 at 7:30 o'clock P.w. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell, City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe, and the Clerk, when the following I proceedings were had to-wit: The mlnutes of the last regular session were read, and it was :l'oved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those votIng Aye being Mayor Healy, Commis21oner Lowe and those voting No, none. Use of Base Ball Park Mr. Harry Reif and Dr. R. E. Se i tz, representing the American Legion, were present to ask about the use of the Baseball Park for the American Legion Junior Baseball program. They s ta tad they were informed the Softball Leapue has requested use of the ball park for their league and they were advised by the Commission that the City had asked the Softball League to con tac t the American Legion to work out a sa tisfac tory schedule for bo thball programs, and that the City could not and would not lease the ball park for the exclusive use of any organization. Bus Route Mr. L. C. Woodburn of the City Taxi Lines, was present and outlined the bus route to be followed by his new bus service and also enumerated the regular stops to be made by I the bus. Mr. Woodburn was informed that before the Commission approved the s to P s for the bus service as outlined that a temporary route should be adopted and the place and number of stops determined by trial. Mr. Woodburn a Iso ask tha t the Ci ty be represented a t a hearing before the Mon tana Railroad Commls~lion in Helena, March 26th, 1946, at which time he was going to ask for charter bus service for the City of Bozeman and vicinity. Y.ayor Healy stated that he would attend the hearin~ to represent the City. Fe ti tion to Extend Business District Mr. H. B. Landoe was present and presented a petition of the Gallatin Farmer's Company requesting that the Main Business District be extended to include Lots 17 & 18; Block H, Rouse's Addition. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Mayor Healy that the petition be referred to the Board of Adjustment for. a recommendation and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy and Commis- pi on er Lowe; those vot1ng No, none. Petitions: Extend Sewer and Open 13tL 14th 8: 15th Avenues A petition of Vern Ballantyne for a sanitary sewer in tee alley between 13th and 14th I from Koch to Golleqe Street was presented and read. Mr. Ballantyne was present and stated that he has contracted to purchase this property, but as yet was not the owner of record. The City Attorney explained that the owner of record would have to be notified of the in- ten t.ion to create the sewer district and that it mif,ht save time and money if the petition was not acted upon until the property was recorded in Mr. Ballantyne's name. Mr. Ballantyne also requested that crossings be provided at the intersections of College and 13th, 14th, and 15th Avenues. It was thouP'ht tha t more informa tion regarding 328 responsibility for the drainage ditch a10n~ the north side of College Street should be obtained before an attempt was made to open these Avenues. Parking Meters Tabulations of bids submitted for pArking meters for the City of Jackson, Michigan were presented to the Commission, and after dis cu ss ion, the Commission stated they were agreeable to writing meter companies for detailed information and the price of their parking meters. I Communication A communication from Congressman Mansfield regarding the sale of surplus property in DU tte, . Montgna, March 25th, 1946 was presented and read.
