Request for Sidewalk Mr. Floyd Wood, owner of property at 1222 South 6th Avenue, was present and requested that sidewalk be constructed in front of the ten lots north of his property so that renters of his property C01Jld have their mail delivered and VV'ould not have to use the street for a sidewalk. 'It was pointed out that this walk had been ordered in last year, but was not constructed because bids received for the work were' much hirrher that bids formerly re- ceived for similar work, and they were therefore rejected. It was sU9'!Zested that separate bids might be asked for new work and- repair work as it was thouQ'ht that new walks cOllld be constructed under a bid contract at a lower rate thati that uSllally chAr~ed for repairing comparatively small areas of old walk. It was further surrgesteo that Mr. liood see the own""rs of these lots or their agents of the lots abutting- the walk reqlJested and ask them to build the said walk voluntarilly without an order from the City. Alley -- Block 6; B& ~ Addition Mr. Homer Fisher appeared before the Commission in regard to opening the alley in Block 6; Babcock & Davis Addition and reported that one owner still refused to deed the necessary land to have this alley opened, and after discussion, it was decided that the alley cOlJld be opened except for the part that falls wi thin the boundary lines of this one property, and that a survey should be made so that the owners could move their fences preliminary to openinp- the alley; in the meantime, necessary information must be secured and deeds executed for the right-or-way. It was hoped that this proceedure miQ"ht induce the owner to coopera te by deed1 ng the neceRsary right-of-wa y over her property, thus makinp-; condemnation proceedings unnecessary.
