July 13th, 1945
The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, .T1Jly 13th, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Busch, Commissioner Sorenson, City Mana~er Quinnell,
City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe, and the Clerk,
when the following proceedinrrs were had to-wit:
The mlnutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissloner
Busch, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the
motion was carried by the followlnQ" Aye and No vote; th08e voting Aye being Mayor Healy,

Proposed Plat -- A E Westlake
Mr. A. E. Westlake was present and presented a map shnwlna the proposed platting of
his property at the corner of Seventh and Peach Street. He stated that he has sold a 0on-
siderable portion of this land in acre tracts, 553 feet long.
Sections from the Montana statute providing for the platting of land within cities
and towns ,,_ wi th ins truc tions rela ti ve to the acceptance by the Ci ty Commis slon of such
plats were read. Examination of the proposed plat showed Fifth AVenue approximately
forty feet west of the present Fifth Avenue in Violett Addition. It was stated tbat the
proposed location of Fifth Avenue, as shown on the plat was set over this distance because
the land had been sold, and it was explained that a small house now occupies the ground
where the present Fifth Avenue if extended north would have to be constructed. The pos-
sibill ty of moving the house or purchasinP.' land to the south so as to prevent this 40-foot
109 in the proposed Fifth Avenue extension was discussed, and Mr. Westlake was amed to
see what cOlJld be done in the matter. The Commission took the plat under advisement for
further stlJdy.
Application for City License
The application of the Valley Dental Laboratory for a ft-year City License was pre-
sented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissi onor Busch
thAt the appliCAtion be approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Busch.

It was moved by Commissioner Busch. seconded by Commi~sloner Sorenson that the reports
be accepted and ordpred filed and the motion was carried by the followinrr A~ and No vote;

were presented and explained to the CiW Commission by the City Manap'er.
Pse of Drill Hall
The Manar;er stated th?t the Pioneer Trails Association had asked to 11se the Drill Hall
in the Armory Buildin~ for their celebration Saturday evenlnQ', July 14th, provided the

weather is unfavorable for an outdoor celebration. The Commission expressed approval of
the use of the Drill Hall for this purpose.
Shirts for Policemen
The Manager ate ted tha t the Police Department had asked tha t the City buy shirts for
their summer use as members of said Department, so that all members would be uniformly
dressed. The Commission expressed approval of the plan to furnish two shirts for each
member of the Police Department as part of the regular uniforms.
CommissiDner Lowe to ResumE: Duties
A letter from W. Gilbert Lowe, who recently received an honorable discharge from
military service, and who was granted a leave of absence from his duties as City Commis-
sioner under date of April 14th, 1944 (Winute Book No. 20, pa~e 117) was received and read.
'IItr. Lowe stated that he was making formal application for reinstatement to his former
posltion as City Commissioner and thAt he wished to resume his duties in that capacity on
.Tuly 27th, 1945. Mr. A. G. Busch, who was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the
tempora r;r absence of Commissiorer Lowe s t8 ted tha t he wOlJld accordinrrl y tender his ref" ig-
nation as Commis:"ion ad interim as of July 27th, 1945. This being in accordance wi th the
statllte in SiJch cases made and provided. It was moved b~T Commissioner Sorenson, seconded
by Commis:"joner Busch that the application of Mr. Lowe for reinstatement as Oommissioner
be and the same is hereby granted, Commissioner Busch to resi;:m as of the date of Mr.
Lowe's rein~tatement, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those
voting Aye being Ma~;"or Healy, Commissioner B1JSch and Commissioner Sorenson; those voting
