Childrens Wading Pool - Cooper Park
A committee composed of George Bryant, Joe Hansford, William Hruska and Bernard Ryan,
representing the Junior Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Commission in regard to
building a childrens wading pool in Cooper Park.
They stated that a substantial sum had been set aside for this purpose and they had
been vested with the power to make such plans as were necessary, as well as to select a
site for the pool. The unanimous decision of the committee was that it should be construct-
ed in Cooper Park, as it would there benefit the greatest number of children, as well as
beautify the park.
The Commission advised them that their plans would be given careful consideration
but they thought that some arrangements should be made to have mnattHx1anlt or someone to
supervise the children and protect them from interference or molestation by older children.
City Parking Lot
Dean Chaffin appeared before the commission regarding the parking situation in
Bozeman. He stated that at times it is almost impossible to get a parking space on Main
Street and that he has some property on the corner of Bozeman and Mendenhall, where he
intends opening up a filling station and also a proposed free parking lot, which would
take a lot of the cars off Main Street. He stated that he would donate this lot, if the
01 ty could take care of the other expenses, such as leveling the ground, hauling some
crushed gravel, etc. If it is possible to do this, he would furnish matten::fnt to take
care of parking the cars, and the only benefit that would be derived, would be from
gasoline sales.
The Commission informed Mr. Chaffin that they thought it a very good idea and that
it would be given consideration and taken up again at the next regular meeting.
