The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular sesslonin the. Commission Room,
City Hall Building, Friday evening, October 19th, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being
present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, Commissioner Lowe, City Manager Quinnell,
City Attorney Aitken, Director of Finance Walter Davis, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk
when the following proceedings were had to-wi t:
The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner

Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the minutes be approved as read, and the mo-
tion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those vo ting Aye being Mayor Healy:,.
Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
Light on South Black
Garfield Stop Street
The Manager s ta ted tha t during the pas t week he and the Ci ty EngIneer had inves tiga ted
the matter of the installation of a street light on South Black Avenue between Curtiss and
Story Street, and that it seemed advisable to have a light installed between these two
streets as the street is poorly lighted at the present time.
It was moved by Commis sioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the light
be installed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; tho se voting
Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
The Manager reported tha t after investiga tion by the Chief of Police, the Ci ty En..
gineer and himself, it was deemed inadvisable to recommend that Garfield Street be made
an arterial street at this time, as requested by Miss Bertha Clow.
Resolution No. 565
Comflrming purchase of Lots

A resolution confirming the recent purchase of Lots 7 and 8; Block 31; Capitol Hill
Addition, by Mayor Healy, for The City of Bozeman, in order to protect the City's interest
in said lots, and authorizing future purchases of like character7 under similar conditions,
was presented and read.
It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that Resolution

Crosswalks to be marked at Grade SchoolS
The Manager stated that members of the PTA from the grade schools had made request
that cross walks be marked at the grade schools. The Manager reported further that traf-
fic paint had been ordered and that these crosswalks would be marked as soon as the paint
is available, and weather permitting.

Proposed Plat .... Story & Church
Mr. Hal Bolinger was present and presented a sketch Showing the proposed platting of
his property at the northwest corner of Story Street and Church Avenue, and ask that the
City dedicate sufficient grounp. to the north and abutting his property for street purposes.

From the plat as proposed, there would be a dead end alley running through the tract and

no street running east and west on the north side of the tract unless or until the City
would donate sufficient street space from the south end of Bogart Grove. It was suggested
that land be platted for a street along the west side of this property, in order to avoid
a dead end street and alley. After further oonsideration, the proposed plat was taken
under advisement.
Request for Parking Space on Main Street
A request from R. W. Aronson, of the U. S. Army Recruiting Service, for private parking
space on Main Street at their office, at 109 East Main was presented and read. It was
stated that this space would be used from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. daily for official business only
and would probably be needed as long as the recruiting office is in Bozeman.
After consideration, it was decided to have the Chief of Police investigate to see if
there is a real necessity for this private parking space, and report at a later meeting.
Communi~ation -- Nursery School
A telegram was presented and read, stating that federal assistance for the Cbild Care
Projects had been au thorized to February 28th, 1946, a nd that the allotment to The Ci ty
of Bozeman for this purpose would be $2700.00
Re-arrangernent Blocks 52 and wi 51; West Park Addition
A plat showing the proposed rearrangement of Blocks 52 and the west one-half of 51;
West Park Addition was presented.
It was stated that before this rearrangement could be approved, ownership to this
property and full consent of such ownership must be shown. It was also explained that the
certificate of dedication must be signed by the lawful owners or by other properly con-
stituted authorlty, and that a Power of Attorney would have to be procured from the part
owner who is now in the military service over seas to enable his agent to sign the certificate
for him oJ

There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was
moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the meeting adjourn
and the motion was carried by the following Aye and Novote; those voting Aye being Mayor
Healy, Commissioner Sorenson, and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.

Request for Extention of Time + SID 338.
A written request f~om the Standard Construction Company was presented and read asking
30-day ,
for a/ extension ofl time for the completion of their contract for the construction of
Special Improvement District No. 338; that this extension is requested because of a delay
in getting material.
It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson
that the extension of time be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and
No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Lowe and Commissioner Sorenson;
those voting No, none.
