HomeMy WebLinkAbout1945-10-26 28,1 Bozeman, Montana October 26th, 1945 The Commission of The City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, City Hall Building, Friday evening, October 26th, 1945, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Those being present were Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; City Manager ~uinnell, City Attorney Aitken, City Engineer Thorpe and the Clerk, when the following proceedings were had to-wi t: The minutes of the last regular session were read, and it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the minutes be approved as read, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Parking Space for Recruiting Office Lt. R. W. Aronson, of the U. S. Recruiting Office was present to request a parking apace at their rec~liting office at 109 East Main, with a movable "No Parking" sign; the space to be used by their government owned auto which is used for recruiting purposes only. I After careful consideration by the Commission, it was felt that the first parking stall on North Black next to the Willson Company which does not have restric ted parking ~ ,j could be reserved for the recruiting car during its stay in Bozeman. Mr. Aronson ex- pressed approval of this space for the government car. Application for City License The application of the Tana Auto Court, 602 North 7th, for a City License was presented and read. It was moved by Commissioner Lowe, seconded by Commissioner Sorenson that the application be approved and the license issued and the motion was carried by the follow- ing Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Com- missioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports were presented and read: Sanitary Inspector's report on milk samples City Manager's Quarterly report on Operating Costs. It was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by Commissioner Lowe that the reports be accepted and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none. Traffic Ordinance The Manager stated that copies of the traffic ordinance would be presented to the Commissioners for study and suggestions for amendments and tha t new copies of the traffic ordinance would then be printed will all existing ordinances amending the traffic ordinance included. Parking Tankers in Front of Hamill Mr. Harry Stith and Don Bennett appeared before the Commission and reported that trucks and tankers parked in front of the Hamill Apartments were very noisy and annoying to the tenan ts . It was stated that such vehicles parked there for considerable time and that oil spilled from the tankers had been tracked into the building. After discussion, the Commission thought that angular parking strips could be pro- vided at this location and that this might eliminate the nuisance complained of. I I I I .1 I .)R.~ f....,JI"".tl Deed to Lots 7 & 8; Block 31; Capitol Hill The deed from Gallatin County to The City ?f Bozeman for Lots 7 & 8; Block 31; Capitol Hill Addition was presented. The deed was referred to the City Attorney for investigation and approval. Traffic -- Near Schools The Manager reported that some traffic paint had arrived and that, weather permitting, school crosswalks would be painted the first of next week. The matter of roping off the streets near the Junior High School and the High School was discussed, and it was thought there should be more regularity in putting up and the taking down of the ropes by those responsible for this job. Regulations for Preparing New Plats The Manager presented and read reg,ulations to be followed by the Engineering Depart- ment for the preparing of new additions and re-arrangements of old additions within the City of Bozeman. Adjournmen t There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Sorenson, seconded by CommiSsioner Lowe that the meeting adjourn and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Mayor Healy, Commissioner Sorenson and Commissioner Lowe; those voting No, none.
